I was watching the replay of the Heap TD to give Balt. the win and I I saw what appeared to be # 56, Mr.Shawne Merriman missing what would have been a game saving tackle.

Anybody else catch that?

I am right though?

RIGHT?

I am sure number 56 had a chance to blow the guy up with a clean shot and just bounced right off of Heap.

Ware wouldn't have missed that;)

He's so brilliant, he was just setting Heap up for another patented pass rush move to be used vs the Ravens in the playoffs.

Merriman isn't asked to make game saving tackles in their scheme.

Obviously you are mistaken. You see what you saw was a marvelous film editing job done by Jerry Jones. He wants you to think that Merriman is human. In reality, the Chargers won, but Jerry slipped in and edited the film to show Merriman missing a gave saving tackle. He's a sly fox that's for sure.

I realize the tongue-in-cheek nature of this thread...

but just to reitterate,

"here's why Merriman is not great" = Merriman is great.

Yep, there's another stat that Merriman leads Ware in. More sacks, more interceptions and now more missed game-saving tackles. Why oh why didn't we draft Merriman instead of Ware???

I think Merriman missed the hit because he was already thinking of doing his spaz-out dance and totally forgot to actually take Heap down.

Or maybe he just wanted to pay back his teammates for helping him get those sacks against the Raiders by flushing Aaron Brooks into him, so he dove at Heap to force Heap back into the waiting arms of his teammate?

he's been very good...but Demarcus Ware would be just as good (in terms of sack totals) if he had ended up in San Diego as well...there is a huge difference in the type of scheme they play vs what Zimmer and Parcells are doing here...not admitting that makes a difference is kinda lame, because it DOES make a difference

I was at the game and i also spoke to Shawne afterwards, he was very upset for the loss, and yes it was a missed tackle, but dont go blamming him for the loss, the Chargers dropped him in a zone for the last 1:50 of that game and McNair had no pressure in his face and picked the zone d apart.

Look, i think we killed the Ware vs Merriman debate, no need to for this! Shawne is a great great guy and a dear friend, and will play in this league for a long time...as will Ware........let it be men, let it be.

there is no need to trash one man's play for another mans sake. They will both be fute stars and Pro-bowlers......

Maybe it was just me but when I was watching the clip of that play it appears he was trying to strip the ball from heap instead of tackling heap.

Not saying anything good or bad about Merriman but that was just my impression of what happened from the short clip I seen.
