Am I seeing things..or did #56 Shawne Merriman miss the tackle that led the TD?!?!?!

I was watching the replay of the Heap TD to give Balt. the win and I I saw what appeared to be # 56, Mr.Shawne Merriman missing what would have been a game saving tackle.

Anybody else catch that?

Yea, but hey...Every sure fire HOF'er gets beat a time or two...It's not like Ware...he would have been chasing the wrong guy around the field and not even a factor in the game.

The guy got beat on a play. It happens. It is the NFL and the guys on the other team are trying to win also. I saw that Shanle missed a tackle and let Foster put the game away for the Panthers. Guys get beat every now and then. Roy Williams got beat for a TD yesterday, but that doesn't make him a sucky player or a liability in coverage. One poor moment in a game versus many more good moments.

I thought Merriman never, never ever dropped back into coverage like Ware is asked to do. I just don't get this ***** envy crap you guys have with Merriman.

Yes, he bounced off of Heap. And it's killing me having to listen to all of the Raven fans this morning. Stinks to live in Baltimore Area

I dont really get all the merriman vs ware debate.

If ware turned out to be a tatol bust i would understand, but he is playing well. why complain that a person we could have drafted instead might be playing a little better (not saying he is, but even IF he ends up better) - whats the point in complaining that we got a great player but could have got a player thats a little better, how can you know before hand which one will be the better player in the end, and especially judging them in only their second year is premature, a lot of different things can happen.

So what. Merriman recorded a sack in the game. Isn't that all that is important?

this thread was just to show all those LIGHTS OUT fans, he is not a GAWD

I realize the tongue-in-cheek nature of this thread...

but just to reitterate,

"here's why Merriman is not great" = Merriman is great.

that's about the stupidest logic i've heard in years.

how many people listed why carter wasn't great? hutch? henson???

looked good on paper but lost all meaning in reality.

I was at the game and i also spoke to Shawne afterwards, he was very upset for the loss, and yes it was a missed tackle, but dont go blamming him for the loss, the Chargers dropped him in a zone for the last 1:50 of that game and McNair had no pressure in his face and picked the zone d apart.

Look, i think we killed the Ware vs Merriman debate, no need to for this! Shawne is a great great guy and a dear friend, and will play in this league for a long time...as will Ware........let it be men, let it be.

there is no need to trash one man's play for another mans sake. They will both be fute stars and Pro-bowlers......

people just can't do that, unfortunately. the debates will linger on as long as people bite on replies.

I am NOT a Merriman!

He may not be a Merriman but I am sure you can trace both of thier lineage to the same village

Since every Merriman thread needs a DeMarcus Ware reference, how many sacks did Ware have Sunday?
