Am I the only one that likes the #5 seed better than the #3?

I personally fear the Eagles, Giants and Saints more than the Seahawks and Bears. Seattle has been free-falling this month, so maybe the odds are better facing them than trying the Eagles or Giants again.

we are still gonna have to play either the saints or the eagles again regardless of where we are IMO...

If Dallas beats Seattle, then they would go to Chicago (unless the Eagles lose at home). If we're gonna get whooped again, I would prefer we get it from the Bears. Another six days of hope.

Let me see:

Home playoff game against an 8-8 scrub

or

Road playoff game against a division winner

Let me think that one over for a minute...

If you have THIS much concern over who are the possible match-ups in the playoffs, you're in trouble..............

If you fear them you have no business being in the playoffs..sooner or later you will have to meet them.Last I know arizona is not playing in the playoffs.
You guys dreaming it will be a cake walk in Seattle.

If it were anyone OTHER than Bill Parcells, the thought would have crossed my mind yesterday, in the midst of that sad execution and uninspired game planning, that SOMEONE preferred facing the SeaHawks in the first round.

But even the most accomplished grassy knollers couldn't attribute that pitiful response to the Eagles to intention. That degree of pathetictude can only be spontaneous.

And I thought the Giants on Sunday looked as bad as a football team could....

I'll take a home playoff game over a road one any day of the week. Having that 12th man can really make a difference in tight spots. Too bad we probably won't get to experience that this year.

Yeah like that matter-of fact reasoning is the end all be all because theres no chance a wild card team could be getting healthy and on a roll while a division winner was limping in on 3 flats. Not to mention after back to back shellackings at home it wouldnt seem that having the first game at home really makes much difference anyhow.

To answer the question, yes from a match-up standpoint I like the 5th seeding better. Heck if not for X's and O's, for the fact that I'm sick of playing rematches or prospective rematches.. at least until theres no other scenarios left.. lets have some new story lines.

But by the same token, yeah it would given a person a warmer feeling about it if we just won a big game to reach the 5th seed as opposed to lost one to fall to the 5th seed.

Exactly, I'm so sick of people trying to find a silver lining in this loss. There is none, so stop looking. We just suck right now.

I really dont think it matters at this point. Playing at home does nothing for this team. The way this team is playing, we'd let Bulger come into Texas Stadium and throw for 350 yds

Sorry, I just don't buy the home field advantage for this team right now. We just won at NY and at Atlanta. Philly and NO just smoked us at home. The home field advantage hasn't been all that kind lately. Going in as the #3 means that they would have to face the Giants (and guess what, Dallas is the only team they do not fear at this stage) and then, if we win, up to New Orleans, who will have two weeks to prepare. At least we haven't matched up against the Seahawks or Bears yet.

This team should have no confidence going into the playoffs, period. The only hope they have is to get a few victories against a few teams on the downward spiral (Lions and Seattle) and get some confidence back.

Apparently a lot of those around here have forgotten Landry's mantra of "you want to STREAK into the playoffs, NOT limp".

I don't think anyone (who's old enough) has forgotten, but facts are facts. That loss yesterday was a huge blow. Win, and the NO game was a mirage that could be dismissed. Lose and, well, you get what we have here today, mass histeria!

Well you may have gotten alot of negative posts against your logic of getting the #5 seed but I agree with you.

I think having two road games against some lack luster offenses when our defense is showing that they are vunerable to such a offense seems more logicable than playing a high-powered offense that has a chance to score aloe of points.

Sure we would love to have a home game and we would probably play the giants or atlanta or even green bay. BUt the problem is that each one of those teams who probably pose more of a problem for us than a Seattle or Bears teams. IMO, we can regroup against the Lions and get ready to play a Seahawks team that has lost three in a row (two against team with losing records) and still trying to find that mojo that got them to the bowl last year.

I feel much better against those guys than playing a brett favre or vick or even Manning cause our defense has shown that any decent offense will cause of problems. Hell, Seattle lost back to back games against Arizona and San Francisco.
