Am I the only one who’s beginning to really like Trey Lance?

Agreed, but what does what you said relate to what I previously displayed concern as to why field a roster spot on a 3rd QB who is never going to touch the field in 2023 and possibly never develop into a starting QB? Isn't that what the practice squad is for, plus are there a handful of practice squad players who can be protected from being stolen by another team? Why not put Lance there and use the 53 man roster spot you gave to him for someone else who likely will be able to play and contribute for the team this year?
That's not the question at hand...was it an educated move? Yes, very...

Ok…I’m excited about giving him space in a new town to reset and develop but…c’mon

You think he’s gonna replace Dak in the next two years? He couldn’t even win the 2nd string job at SF. Do you think SF would trade him to a NFC playoff rival if they thought there was a remote chance he would become elite in a year?

I’m not trying to be a downer but you all need to temper your expectations, and see this as a rookie starting his career completely over.

My personal theory is that Rush’s abilities no longer match this offensive style, and the cowboys are hoping Trey can be a serviceable backup and then flip Cooper to a QB starved team for a 1st or 2nd round pick. If they get more than that from Trey long term, fantastic
He doesn't have to, just like with Romo and then Prescott, except for an injury need. They have a solid #2 in place..

The 49ers traded him because he is a developmental project, but he wasn't going to get a chance to develop as the #3 QB. Dallas traded for him to be in the exact same situation. I think he would be good as a #2 somewhere, but having him as the #3 is useless.

Educated to where it leaves other positions without backups?
You prove nothing beyond throwing out a doubt, unsupporting in a valid justification to instead change...straight up, who you saying is a needed and also indispensable need. Answer your own doubt. This team is maxed both in cap and depth strengths. I won't waste time crying about the cost of paying in the NFL. That already is fully on the table for the Cowboys here and now up to the top of scale. I'm not crying...

Only if NOT developed through good leadership already required to win in today's NFL. Now, if THAT isn't here right now, a different kind of move is then needed.

I'm still not crying about this very approaching season.

Then don't comment on my posts, because it sure does sound like you're crying.

No, you came in questioning as to a discussion...there is no cry in my comments. Don't care talking to this fan...then DON'T. In conversations, I owe you no personalized or mandatory response. I still talk football...if you object, then don't respond to me. Doesn't hurt my feelings. You don't serve up dominance in insights, beyond a discussion.

Why would Jerry consult Mike? Mike is not going to say no. sheesh Jerry had SF on the line and he didn't want the deal to get gone.
