These numbers are impressive on a couple of levels. First, it was the Falcons, although vastly improved, not a traditional national draw, and second, there were two other Fox games, Saints/Dolphins and Bears/Cincinnati. The highest rated Fox Sunday game in 13 years?

No doubt about it, the Boy's are the straw that stirs the drink. :starspin

The Yankees prime-time clincher over the Angels on Sunday night scored a nice 9.3 national rating for Fox. Now comes word that Fox's late Sunday afternoon NFL doubleheader game that featured the Cowboys-Falcons scored a 16.8.

Put another way, the Yankees game attracted 15.5 million viewers while the Cowboys game et al attracted 28.4 million viewers.

The numbers make the Cowboys-Falcons the highest-rated, most-watched NFL broadcast of the season, topping, what else, another Cowboys game. The Giants-Cowboys opener at the JonesMahal scored a 15.1. with 25.1 million viewers.

And, by the way, 28.4 million viewers is the most for a Sunday NFL window on Fox since a Cowboys-49ers game in 1996 attracted 29.7 million viewers.

I got to watch a few minutes of the 3rd quarter because the chicago game was such a blowout...It was nice...They shoulda stuck to the cowboys game for the whole afternoon...numbers woulda been even better.

Wow, that is amazing. To beat the opening Giants game by that much? And then to stomp a Yankees LCS game too?

Extra people probably tuned in when they realized Joe Buck wasn't doing the game. ;)

Here's what I don't understand. Its very well known that the Cowboys are a strong ratings pull. The Falcons, a quality team in 2009, strengthens the match-up.

The actual ratings only confirm what was already known. The Cowboys draw the audience.

So why in the world did they choose to show half the country Chicago-Cincy? (especially me ). I'd heard some indication this was a FOX decision and not the local affiliates.

That's awesome. That's shocking to see a Cowboys & Falcons game draw that many viewers.

And I thought I was the only one.... I wonder when Buck will realize that the game isn't all about him.

Baseball traditionally gets stomped by the Cowboys. I forget who they played on a Monday Night game, but it was during the World Series and the Cowboys ratings were like triple :laugh2:

I was going to say something similar. Regardless of the mediots continually wanting to anoint whatever team happens to be hot in a particular season as "America's Team" the ratings prove who is REALLY America's Team and it is the Dallas Cowboys!

And another thing about last week (yup, still steamed  )

They stayed with the Cincy-Chicago game the whole way in Colorado. Never switched games even though it was a complete blowout the whole way.

It seems like the Denver Fox affiliate always chooses the alternate game rather than the Cowboys game and will stick with it no matter if it's a blow out. Not sure what that is about, but Dallas is a lot closer to Denver than either Chicago or Cincy.

Dude that sucks.

You missed the best performance by a Cowboys team since 2007.

I was told it was the AFC contender and Cutler angles.

Seriously.

It's the Star on the helmet.

Tex was a genius and he struck gold when he redesigned the uniforms and the helmets in the early 60's.

The way the Star shows up on TV is spellbinding and part of the American culture. It just looks like America!

I can't blame them for that, I don't want my local affiliate in Texas leaving a Cowboys game because its a blowout. I want to see every game, the whole game.
