Amazing Cowboys/Falcons TV Rating

I've been meaning to ask, now that it was brought up in this thread why is Joe Buck gone? Because of his HBO gig or did some executive finally realize how much he friggin sucks and can his ***? :whip:

I would suspect he was torturing baseball fans with his commentating.

God, Thom Brennaman is so much better than Buck it's not even close.

Yeah, and he's a baseball guy to. He just called the game and let Aikman do the analysis. The longer buck is gone the better.

Very true. This was a no non-sense broadcast...pure football. I liked it. The best part was that I had the chance to catch the second half in London (Sky Sports)

Extra people probably tuned in when they realized Joe Buck wasn't doing the game. ;)

:hammer: :lmao2:

I'm glad that a good chunk of the country saw what this Dallas team is capable of. I just hope the Cowboys keep it up regardless of who is or isn't watching.

Had the Cowboy game here in L.A. Only week they werent televised was opener v Tampa, but they are almost always on. Their merchandise is sold in the local Walmarts along with only the other CA teams. They are definitely So Cals most popular team based on anecdotal evidence.

I was told it was the AFC contender and Cutler angles.

Seriously.

I'd heard about the Cutler thing. And it probably has some validity to it. But I'm thinking the Cowboys-Falcons would've pulled higher ratings in Colorado. Just my guess, but Cowboy fans are everywhere.

It seems the last couple of years that Colorado affiliates are outsmarting themselves with some of the far-reaching connections they make when choosing games to broadcast. Go back to what you know works. The Cowboys! :)

Thanks for the heads-up on this weeks game.

Thank gosh for the internet. Like Big Dakota said: my area got 'da bears, who got 'da crushed. So.........watched it online: not great but better than not watching it at all............long live piracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't blame them for that, I don't want my local affiliate in Texas leaving a Cowboys game because its a blowout. I want to see every game, the whole game.

My local affiliate DID leave the Cowboy game a while back because we were blowing out the opponent. Knowing that, I was expecting they'd do the same thing again to our benefit.

But if Cutler was the connection they wanted, they probably chose to stay with the blow-out game and let all the Denver fans watch him get his butt kicked. :laugh2:

Okay, I understand the dislike for Buck, but that Thom Brennaman is much worse. He's terribly inaccurate half the time, and was painful to listen to. He's not as bad as NFL Network's previous nightmare announcer, but he wasn't that much better either.

Guess what? Happening again this week with a collapsing San Fransicso going to get slaughtered before half the country.

I love me some Sunday Ticket....no longer have to recite the rosary every Sunday hoping the local affiliate doesn't pick up some crappy New York area team or worse Pittsburgh/Philly....and that's only if the useless Buffalo Bills aren't playing during the same time slot.

this is what those in the sports world call the "Joe Buck Effect"

No Joe Buck for the Cowboys = tremendous ratings

Joe Buck on the Yankee game= i'd rather wait and read about it in the paper the next day

Here's some funny stuff from a Falcon forum:

No... not at all...

But in defense of some other Falcon fans, they helped him see the light...

Unfortunately, the Favre Bowl this weekend will probably top it, but only because it was moved to 4:15.

I checked it out. Another thread a couple of them also think that Booker, Ryan, and Jenkins got cheap shots from the Cowboys. Crying about the Brady rule not in effect. I didn't notice any close calls on Ryan and the hits on the wrs were legit.

And the head of officiating confirmed as such immediately after the non-calls.
