They both ran very well. I thought they ran well last week too, but suffered due to poor run blocking.

Julius looked to be in great form last night.

MB3 surprised me; he seemed to have something extra .... more of a burst. He just seemed to play faster/quicker than he did ;ast year.

I think Barber is a good back. Just not as good as JJ. I keep hearing how he is supposedly SO Much better at blocking and catching and I really do not see that much difference. Barber played very well last night. BUT the Barber man lovers refuse to admit when he makes mistakes. Then they scream at me when I praise JJ and flat out say he is better. So trying to make me the heavy frankly looks dumb.
It's not about making you the heavy...It's the fact that whenever there's a post criticizing Julius, justifiably or not, you swoop in like Superman out to save a damsel in distress. It's actually pretty funny to watch.

Barber and Julius have different strengths. Barber does catch better than Julius. That's a fact.

I'm not sure on blocking, but I think they both seem to be good at it.

Julius has more top-end speed, and his cuts are quicker. But I like Barber's speed as well. Barber's a tough inside runner, who seems very slithery. And I think that elusiveness compensates for his lack of top-end speed.

I think with Barber its more slippery then elusiveness. Which is just as good if not as spectacular. JJ is elusive in that he makes moves that are apparent and easy to spot. Except for the poor D guy who gets left without his pants.

JJ does not run with the abandon he did as a rookie and I blame BP entirely for that. He has gotten on Barber as well for trying to make something out of nothing. I wish BP would let the RB's go with their instinct- it usually works and certainly better then running straight into a pile since that is where the play is supposed to go.

This thread should be titled "Amazing how good the RBs look when we play the NFL's worst defense, playing for the first time this preseason almost exclusively outside their base D." The niners played 4-3 most of the night if I recall correctly, which is a first for them this preseason. It is encouraging that we were able to run all over them, but it is delusional to think that the problems we've had running the ball inside have somehow gone away because we did it successfully against a HORRENDOUS defense.

Actually I think that the 49rs might be better off running the 4-3 withtheir current personel.
