One thing Amendola will have to show is the ability to get off the line of scrimmage when facing press coverage. Playing at TT because of the offense they ran you would see defenses giving big cushions to the TT WR in the NFL you are not going to get those big cushions as often. I like the kid and have seen plenty of TT game and it will be interesting to see if he can make the jump to the next level as Welker did.

Sorry about the mistake I should have said Texas Tech

I think he has a real good shot at making the team , but as a punt returner more than a receiver . I don't think Pac-Man will play this season , and that will open the door for Amendola . I think he can beat out Crayton for PR duties , and could probably also be the 6th receiver . Maybe after a season on the roster he could manage to get a few more snaps with the offense in 2009 .

Wow, the kid has an amazing first step. I can't wait to see him play.

So, is his name really pronounced: "Amen"-dola? Hallelujah!

I was a TTU student during Welker and Amendola's careers and the one thing that kept Amendola from reaching the status Welker had here was his inability to either run through the last tackle or make the last guy miss. Welker had that uncanny ability to finish as is evident by his Big 12 punt and kickoff TD return records. Amendola would always get by the first 10 guys then get tackled by his shoestrings by the last guy. He ended his career with only 1 TD on punt returns but got tackled on the 1 or by the last guy countless times :(

In my opinion what makes Welker great is his ability to move so quickly laterally and then transition to full speed almost instantly. Amendola does not have this quality. I think everyone is getting a bit overhyped about his potential to be the next "Welker".

He looks like a Brandon Stokely type. Would be nice if he turned out to be a productive slot WR.

I hope he makes the team just because I don't want Patrick Crayton out there anymore

Stokely is a little bigger and runs a faster 40 (or at least used to) and has niched a pretty good career for himself. Amendola will be doing well if he can do the same. I hope he can.

I hope you mean they are both white, cause Stokely's game is completely different from the Welker type even though they both work in the slot. ;)

I do think Pacman wil play, but I wouldn't want to count him him fo rthe whole year without other options. If he does play, he will be the PR...how could he not be?

I think he was referring to punt return duties, and in that case, I agree with him.

Very interesting little fella', with his return potential. If he can prove to be as toungh in the NFL as he was in College, he might actually have a chance to do something on the next level.

He reminds me more of Wayne Chrebet than Welker.

God forbid anybody compared him to...say...Kelvin Martin or a player that wasn't white. I know it's hard, since it's almost like an automatic thing to compare someone to another that "looks" like them. But you just see this all the time. It's not offensive, just something that most people (including sportswriters) do.
