Are we pathetic or what?.Having so much hope over a UDFA is never a good sign.JJ better have a plan for next season to get a top WR here-I dont care if even if he has draft one in the 1st round(GASP).

There is nothing wrong with hoping they reach their potential regardless of where we get them....

Oh... and... even if he makes the team and is successful... he wont be of "top WR" anyways... so I dont get it.

If Roger had that much "clout" we would have drafted him to ensure we got him.

Exactly.

IMO, Roger didn't have anything to do with Dallas signing Amendola.

I'm sure Roger suggested him to someone at Valley Ranch, but the scouts there have known about him for a long time. It isn't like Roger discovered him.

If anything, Jason Garrett pushed for him because of the Welker comparisons.

When all was said and done, the Cowboys as an organization, didn't view Danny as a draftable player. That doesn't mean he won't make the team and it doesn't mean they have him graded right. They thought the same thing about Tony Romo.

Amendola is a near lock for the practice squad. In fact we may see 2 or 3 practice squad WRs. But his roster shot depends on if we give up on Austin or Hurd as developmental guys.

Danny will get his shot same as Miles Austin and Sam Hurd with the difference being Amendola comes in knowing how to play the position... i.e. actually run routes and catch passes, rofl.

He's a tough guy who can catch and he'll have a good shot at sticking around the bottom of a roster for a few years. The difference is with other guys sticking there we are waiting on them to develop and with him we'll get some return.

He is certainly a better WR than Isaiah Stanbeck was when drafted.

I can't believe this hasn't gotten more notice ..

On NBC Ch. 5 in Dallas, on 10 p.m. news the first night of rookie/FA workouts here, was a story on Amendola, featuring Roger Staubach. This was the day that Amendola impressed so much ...

Turns out Roger was QB was in some kind of competitive 4-on-4 touch/flag tourney a week or maybe two before the draft, and Danny was participating ...

(I hope I heard right, and it wasn't a golf tourney!)

Anyway Roger was so impressed with Amendola that for the first time ever, even when he was on the team, that he ever he went to management to tout a player, that this FA/player "must be signed" ... (I guess he wasn't so impressed with Drew Pearson ....?:))

So Roger called up either Jerry or Stephen a few weeks ago, pushing us to sign Amendola .. it must have worked!

How much is Roger's recommendation worth? Pretty much you would think ..

It was amazing to me .... Here was the usually silent, unassuming Roger, gushing about Amendola on camera. Maybe he's onto something ...

Is this true or one of those interweb rumors?
