I would expect Amendola to be the fuzzy feel good underdog story we get crammed down our throats during Hard Knocks and I am sure Jones is marketing it that way. And if he is cut or waived, we will be flooded with angry posts about how we let a great one get away.
Oh gosh, I can actually see that too.

That just further amplifies what I mean. Have you ever seen hype like this? I honestly have not. I'm not rooting against the guy by any wild stretch, but I think some people are counting on him actually being as good as Welker. Forgive me, but I find that a tall order for a guy who has not yet played a meaningful snap. Maybe he can convince me otherwise. It would be great, but holy Moses, slow the parade down.

Even if he is to make the team, How in the world would he be active on Gameday.

I still dont see anyway Isiah stanback is active on gameday. The numbers just dont work for him. Especially if curtis and bennet are worthy of both being active.

So amendola will be a guy who could make the practice squad but then weould be signed right away.

Yeah I can see that happening also.

IN fact I bet there are a number of people complaining about guys who get caught after they see them on hard knocks.

Well, we kept Terry Glenn on the roster doing nothing for an entire year. I am sure we could find a way to keep Amendola around. We might need a water boy or something. Maybe he can be that person who holds the headphone cords like David Keith used to do.

I think that extra spot that is not active this season will go to either CB or Defensive Line.

I wish Stanback would step up and be the number 2 guy. Admitted Pac 10 homer saying that. It is an extreme longshot and I wish it mostly because of the guy's speed. If he could put the pieces together it would be a true benefit. Randall Williams never could put his amazing speed to use, Stanback is in the same boat at this point.

I'd say the odds are about even on Amendola making the team. Jerry sure seems to adore him and I think the media does. That means the fans will.

There's nothing wrong with that. I just need to see more. I do like the pedigree stuff. I know, people hate that word of mine. I don't care. It matters.

With all the CB's were going to try to stash away on the roster this year, I don't see us keeping 6 WR's again.

I don't think anyone is expecting that...at least I hope not. I just like his skillset. We need another 'quick' guy with the loss of Glenn. If he can learn to get off press coverage, he could become a situational guy that gets those 'must need' 3rd an 7's.

No harm in hoping.

I can't remember more hype for an undrafted player in my life. I hope he can live up to it. I have my doubts.

Every year, one obscure player is picked for the fans to get worked up about. This year it's Amendola.

I remember Crayton had similar excitement around him a few years ago.

that reminds me I havent heard anything about Daniel Polk who has a chance to be the next patrick crayton. Former qb turned wr. Our whole wr core could be former qb's!!!

I want to hear about Marcus Dixon. If he can be an improvement over Bowen it could be a great addition.

If....

I saw the highlight. It was a beautiful catch laying out for the ball, but he was pretty much blanketed by Alan Ball on the play ... in shorts. I still don't think he really has an NFL caliber tool at his disposal to get seperation against 1st string caliber CBs.

That's what concerns me about Amendola as well. I'm not sure he will be able to get separation.

He seems to have excellent hands, is able to run precise routes and has grit, but lacks size and quite possibly elite quickness (i.e., doesn't have W Welker's quickness) according to various scouting reports.

Especially based off "practices" in shorts. I mean get serious for a moment. He hasn't even had any contact in a live game yet. We'll see how he does when things go full speed.

There might be a reason he's an OTA hero and disappeared in mini-camp.
zOMG why you criTiCzing the mediaz!!!1111 THey're just doing their jobZzz!!!11!!1

Seriously, could you be more of a hypocrite?

The guy has been impressive at every stop, but somehow that's not supposed to be reported? Dumb.

Cowboy fans hope Danny becomes the next Welker just like we (Texas Tech fans) hoped he would be the next Welker.

He's a nice guy and decent player- but he is not near the football player Welker is. It would be great to see him succeed.

He will give 110% and may make several "Plays of the Day" because of his motor but I really doubt he makes it past the practice squad this year.

Could you exagerrate more? I never said the media shouldn't report it.

The media has every right to report it as they should.

What the average imbecile does with that information is the problem.

The guy has been impressive at every stop,

He was a solid college player. He was not "impressive". I don't know of many "impressive" players that simply go undrafted. Not in today's age where every team copycats. If he truly had the makings of Wes Welker II, you don't think some team would have taken a flier on him?

but somehow that's not supposed to be reported? Dumb.

Drawing conclusions from padless practices and YouTube highlights? Even dumber.

Talk when he actually produces something tangible. Thanks.

it started as a joke when id say OROY! I hope he realistically provides us a good slot receiver not great or extraordinary but a good one, from the little footage ive seen from his TT games it seems he'd be a good slot type receiver

You are in denial if you don't believe the fact he went to the same college as Welker, is white like Welker, is short like Welker and has been dubbed Welker II by both the media and even our own players doesn't play into expectations right now.

Very few people have seen him play a second of football with us, but that doesn't stop them from penciling him in as our sixth or even fifth WR on the roster. It is utterly ridiculous at this stage.
