Sorry for your loss!

I had the tip of my finger cut off when I was 6 yrs old or so.

My Mother took me and the tip to the emergency room, and they stitched it back on. It kind of healed off center though, somewhat crooked, .. so the end my finger looks like a dog with his head tilted a little after he hears a high pitched sound.

:laugh2:

It happened like this: I was putting a chain back on the neighbor girls bike, .. she asked if it was ready, .. I said no, .. she turned the pedals anyway.

My finger went about halfway around the sprocket, between the chain and the sprocket.

That's right, there's no room between the chain and the sprocket.

I've still got 10 full fingers though, thanks to one tough Mom.

Did you give the girl the finger?

I would have except she started crying and ran home when my finger was halfway around the sprocket.

I had to turn the pedal to get my finger back out.

I ran my finger through a chain/sprocket when I was young too. It didn't take the end off but one of the sprocket points went into my finger through the nail. My nail still grows with a dent in it.

Is it hard to balance?

I doubt it is after a while.

People balance on prosthetics all the time.

Maybe at first and probably because of the pain but after a while I'd bet anyone even notices the thing is missing.

Pictures or it didn't happen.

Oh you really don't want to see photos. Its not that hard to balance, and I will be getting a insert and orthopedic shoes.
