Hello fellow Zoners.

This draft was based on the fact that we keep Dak and the offense stays the same it did before he went down. So keep that in mind.

7: R1 P7 LB Micah Parsons - Penn State
The person that is needed for this defense. The guy that can come in, start and be the leader this team has been craving on the field for I dont know how long. Parsons is as athletic as they come, isnt afraid of contact and can cover sideline to sideline.
39: R2 P7 S Jevon Holland - Oregon
We finally fix the problem that has been a problem since Darren Woodson graced the gridiron. Holland is a star at the S position and something this team has desperately needed for a long time.
71: R3 P7 OT Liam Eichenberg - Notre Dame
Backup for Tyron who can actually play. Our history with ND lineman has been good so far. I believe that continues with this pick.
98: R3 P34 S Kolby Harvell-Peel - Oklahoma State
First team All big 12 and another star at Safety. Why double down? Maybe I am just tired of seeing one safety making up for another one. With these 2 guys in the backfield. The safety position is good for the next decade.
109: R4 P7 CB Keith Taylor - Washington
This kid has future star written all over him. He was behind a couple players prior to this season but the plays I watched he jumps out at you. Another addition to our horrible secondary, and considering the mass exodus of players I am expecting in the DB room we need another talented player.
136: R4 P34 TE Matt Bushman - BYU
Finally get a TE that can get vertical and run fast. Bushman may be one of the top tight ends in the country before the season ends.

You will notice I didnt address the DT position.

I only went to the end of the 4th round and to be honest this isnt a loaded DT draft anyways. That position may have to wait until next year but this is the beginning of retooling the defense and making a run with Dak at the helm of the most potent offense in the NFL.

Let me know what you think.

Depending on the Cap Elephant in the room that shall not be named, just to keep this thread on track, there might be a decent FA pickup at DT to hold them over?

Where's the Aaron Donald when you need him, right?

That would be what I do. Shore up the defensive backfield and bring in a stop gap FA at DT until next years draft. If the offense comes out how it did this season and the defense plays even average we should be winning games.

We desperately need a disruptive DLine. W/o, there is no fixing the D.

If there isn't anyone, we'd be best suited to trade back or trade for next year's picks.

Parsons is Jaylon before his injury. The league has changed we need cover linebackers. They can be found in the middle rounds. We need a corner or two and two defensive tackles. Not bad though.

Im not giving up on a blue chip prospect for possibly getting a DT a year later. We can get a DT in FA. If we cant stop the other team from passing all over the place on us it doesnt matter. Hence the 3 DB in the draft. We need to replace the guys who we arent re-signing.

Don't necessarily disagree, and there are often good DT's to be found in the mid rounds. However, we MUST start evaluating better.

Jaylon is a dumb player though. Parsons is not. He lives in the film room and actually understands what he is watching.

Parsons is a finesse backer who jumps around blocks instead of stacking and shedding. He's also a drag-down tackler without much pop. I think he has a chance to be special in the right scheme, but I don't want another finesse linebacker. Dallas needs football players, not finesse business majors.

How do you know all of this? Jaylon went to Notre Dame and graduated. He has plenty of business partnerships with the Joneses. Dumb is the last word to describe Jaylon. His issue is he never fully healed and has drop foot.

Every player in the NFL watches film more then a college kid that took a year off of playing football. Parsons is talented know doubt but he reminds me of Notre Dame Jaylon. Those type of players are dinosaurs now.

I love the idea of landing Parsons and Holland and think that would be a great start to the draft. That being said, we aren't improving our run D until we fix DT.

It's a weak class, so if we aren't drafting 1 we better make a move in FA.

I liked the premise of what the Jones Disease/McCarthy/McClay did with the draft and FA. They just have to hit better on their FA pickups.

Bringing in young guys, and bridge/stop gap vets at their positions to help them transition is smart. They just failed miserably with the vets.

Of course this all hinges on the available Cap room and being smart with the money to make room.

Im not talking about business smarts. I mean natural instincts and a feel for the game.

Dallas needs blue chip talent. I dont care what the player is classified as.

Like I said he never recovered from the injury fully. Jaylon would have been the 3rd pick in the draft if he did not get hurt. Parsons has that type of talent.

I like Parsons a lot more than Jaylon and Ive watched both college players. Parsons seems like he is a better leader, and the game comes to him easier it seems.

Here's where I Would be at on that.
Dallas has to trade for Q. WILLIAMS. not a 2nd rounder but a pair of 3rds 2021 & 2022.
This is essential to the success of next year.

Once this happens I kinda think you are setting up for a decent draft need ability.

Maybe if we get a top 5 move back to the top 10 and snag a 2nd rounder.
This is where you need to be.
ADD a CB like Wade or Sultan or Parsons.
In the second round you have to address a serious need OG on the left side.
The second pick you gotta use logic. Can you get another CB or DE? Or if and I say IF a guy like Little or Mayfield OT are on the board you gotta seriously look at Drafting one of them.
If you do so you gotta think what can I get for T. SMITH OR L. COLLINS?
SAVE SOME CASH.
After that feel the needs

I think this is about as good of a haul, defensively, as this draft has to offer at this point.

I don't really like Bushman all that much, but like the idea of grabbing another athletic TE later on.

Thats my hope. It helps on the rebuild on that side of the ball for sure. 2 drafts like this and we are cooking with gasoline. All we would need Dak to do is score 24 points a game which he is more than capable of
