In the draft thread someone put up a quote from Jones about absolutely not moving Lee to the outside. FWIW.

I agree with this.

Rewatch Holloman and he did very poorly vs the run last year... Here's hoping he improves.

I think folks are prematurely burying Carter.

If you watch him I don't think that will be your conclusion. If you go by PFF ratings, then it will be your conclusion.

very true...they did, but the guy is SIMPLY not big enough to hold up and we all know it. (all of us except the defensive staff that is)
Lee would THRIVE on the outside and many on this board will eat crow about Hitchens. He's a solid player in the middle....VERY stout and well coached. Near his ceiling but he could play MLB in this scheme for a few years and play it well before we upgrade. The following should interest his critics greatly:

I did watch him and I support Fuzzy's premise that Holloman did not get off blocks well... Given he was a rookie and did have health issues last season, I do expect improvement.

I keep hearing the low ceiling thing but I can see many places he can improve.

If nothing else he could improve his body significantly. He has to have a body fat % pushing 20%. His blitzing is effective due to his quickness but he has no moves. He needs to improve his technique when taking on blocks significantly. Upper body strength would help there too.

I think that people see that he is already very good at diagnosing run/pass and attacking but there is so much more to the position than that.

btw...couldn't care LESS how this guy ran at the combine. He can run on the field, tackle and execute just fine. Phil Parker is Iowa's DC and personally recommended him. Tenacity, toughness and guts in spades with this kid. He's a good pick....don't care what 90% of the knuckleheads say on this board

your posts have been very solid the last two days....this one is no different FL. VERY nice analysis of Hitchens...everything you said is accurate, which is why he was a 4th rounder.

I actually like his pop and shed move. He extends his arms and pops back away from the blocker and then surges forward going around the blocker.

I saw him try to spin out and go nowhere and try and use his hands and go backwards. i wasn't seeing him shedding blocks and making tackles. His quick reads and feet let him beat OL ot the spot though.

I've watched all of his snaps in 4 games and the more I watch the better that I like him. He is solid player.
