An idea on how to "gently" rock the boat, and help our team...

Bring back Adam Jones as the 4th or 5th corner for this team...

And yeah, I know, I know, nobody wants a distraction or to disrupt team chemistry. But I honestly don't believe bringing Pac back for such a low-profile position (4th or 5th on the depth-chart & possibly as a punt returner) would make too many waves. And frankly, if this team couldn't hold its chemistry together by the bit of extra media attention that bringing Pac in as a reserve would cause, then we're already doomed anyway. 'Cause a team that fragile ain't goin' anywhere this year. I have greater faith in our guys than that.

We are perilously thin at cornerback. Alan Ball, by all accounts, is more comfortable at safety than corner, and both Brown & Mickens are just terrible at this point. If something happens to any of our top three boys, our nickel & dime packages are going to suffer greatly. Though not so much if we have Pac as a backup to our backups, and it also may greatly enhance our punt return game. Pac was close on a few punt returns last year, and with the better blocking (hopefully) that DeCamallis should bring, I think he could be a very dangerous returner for us & allow us to avoid putting someone truly valuable in that position (Felix, for example).

There would, of course, be an immediate media storm. But with Pac hardly ever seeing the field on defense, it's one destined to die down fairly quickly. Hell, Jerry might even get some props for bringing in capable insurance and placing Pac so far down on the depth chart. And you know Pac would be grateful even just to have that job, as it's a heckuva lot more than he has now.

I know he's a controversial figure, and I know his legal snafu last year was a distraction. But he's also a very fine talent and could serve as more than a competent replacement for either Scandrick, Jenkins or Newman like nobody else on our roster or in free agency. This is a team with real Superbowl aspirations, and Pac is a player who could really help our team in a support role; a role which would limit his media exposure, and injury willing, his vitalness to our team.

I understand that most on this board won't feel the same way. But I don't think our team is too fragile to handle Pacman coming aboard as an insurance policy. He already knows the system, is supposedly in great shape, is humbled enough to take a job as a reserve without blinking and has more talent in one leg than Ball or Brown do collectively.

I'd wait 'til after the first game of the season, but then I'd send Brown packing, keep Ball at safety (and 5th corner), plug Pacman into the dime formations as a 4th and play some ball. If it ultimately doesn't work out for whatever reason, then we cut a 4th or 5th corner without much hoopla and move on.

I, too, want a veteran corner. Pacman. No one could help us more, in my opinion.

Maybe if he did not suck as a punt returner when he last played.

:lmao2: Where do you guys find this stuff?

PacMan was a disappointment last season in more ways than one. I don't see how he could've improved either. He has no self control and no discipine. I mean, McDonalds? when there's a spread of healthy choices laid out for free by the organization? And don't get me started on the off-the-field stuff. He was a failed experiment. Jerry admitted it by releasing him. Case closed.

Adam Jones had his golden opportunity as a Dallas Cowboy and promptly crapped all over it... while under paid supervision. That ship has sailed and it's not returning to port.

I disagree that we are perilously thin at corner. We have one of the few shutdown corners in the league and two very good second year players manning the other two starting positions.

Injuries happen and all teams must deal with them but I would be willing to bet that half the teams around the league would trade places with us in a heartbeat as far as our cornerbacks are concerned.

We conducted this experiment using the same logic last year. I really don't see us hurting that bad at corner.

Could a mod or admin please add the word "bad" before "idea" in the thread title.

Thanks in advance.

Pacman= bad idea

By the way way does the boat have to be rocked gently. I like the Jimmy J approach of fear and intimidation. The cutting of John Roper for falling asleep in a meeting was awesome. We need more of that.
