An onside kick...

I am sure plenty of people thought of an onside kick at some point, especially when they were still playing catch up...but what about after scoring the TD to go up 48-41? I know it is risky as hell, and conventional wisdom would say to crush any notion of something like that, but in yesterday's game I think it would have been brilliant. Absolutely nobody would expect it at that point, and the odds are they were going to score anyway, so I don't think the risk is all that great, but the reward would have been tremendous.

I would think only Payton or Belichik would be gutsy enough to make a call like that though, certainly not Garrett.

What say you?

I thought about that at the time too...considering the fact that we couldn't even slow peyton down anyways, I think it would have been a good idea.

Absolutely not. Sends the wrong message to your defense and with the amount of time, timeouts and the 2 minute warning still left, it's likely the Cowboys defense would've had to come back onto the field.

No guarantee that we score even if we did recover the onside.

Playing conventional football isn't the way to beat the Broncos and that offense. I wish JG would have rolled the dice and given it a try.

I'd have tried one earlier in the game, before halftime, even. It's the old punch-the-gorilla-in-the-nose bit. Once we were playing catchup, I wouldn't have gone for it. I was tempted, but the risk was too high. We were better off opening up the offense as we did and hoping it paid off. That huge pass to Terrance Williams was big in that regard as it really kickstarted the downfield passing game.

Yea I mean I thought the defense especially towards the end of the game had at least one stop in them. When they'd do good in coverage Peyton would simply dump it to Moreno. EVERYTIME.

I thought about it coming out of halftime.

That's one of those calls that are great if the work or stupid if they don't. If he didn't work, people would be calling for Garrett's head today for giving up a short field after we just took the lead. I don't see any fault in the way the game was managed yesterday at all. I personally would not have done it in that situation either.

The way that game was going, i would've been OK with an onsides kick attempt up 48-41. 40 yards of lost field position would not have mattered one bit. If you get the ball, you probably go up 2 scores.

I would do it, but Garrett doesn't have it in him.
