Analysts Jon Weiner, Scoop Jackson and Jorge Sedano recently joined ESPN's First Take to talk about the Cowboys. Here are some highlights:

On if the Cowboys will win more than eight games this year:

Weiner: “I’m done with Tony Romo. For that reason and that reason alone and it’s probably unfair to this Cowboys team, but I’m basing this solely on Tony Romo. But it’s kind of unfair because Romo is statistically a pretty good quarterback. I don’t know. For whatever reason I think Dallas takes a step back this year. They have enough talent but because of Romo, I see them winning seven or eight games this year.”

Jackson: “I have them going over, but it’s a meaningless 9-7. Hey, you know, we got to 9-7 so we might not win the division or take the playoffs. Romo is going to continue to have the same problems that he’s always had. He can’t finish big. He can’t do anything to get outside himself. He’s going to cost them a game or two. It’s the same thing. They’ll go 9-7, but it’s a meaningless 9-7.”

I am old enough to remember reading SI in the 70's back when they were chock full of top writers. Now? I do not bother.

A playoff run -- a couple of wins and/or reaching the NFC Championship game would go a LONG way in quieting this kind of chatter re: Romo.

Hopefully the Cowboys make that kind of run at least once in Romo's career.

I'm not going to criticize their opinion, because I don't necessarily disagree. But I hate when the words come from an outside source. Maybe because I feel like they're completely uninformed? I dunno. It would be different if they were cowboys fans.

Until the Cowboys do something, I don't know what everyone expects. Hopefully this will light a fire under them but only time will tell. Maybe it's better that no one expects anything out of them. They never did anything when they were picked to go to the SB. Sometimes it's best to play under the radar.

I didn't say you were pretending, and I never said you were a troll. You specifically asked about trolls in the context of this thread, and trolls often pretend to be fans of the sites they troll. I was just answering your question.

I believe you're a red-blooded fan just like most of the rest of us. You just don't have an accurate grasp on the quality of our QB play, but you're hardly alone in that.

The same way they print a headline that "Dan Conner, a NY Giant player, got arrested at an AP" and show him in a Cowboy uniform. I kid you not, they actually said in the article "a NY Giant player!!!! These people are very special.

I expect news reporting with some resemblance of integrity. Even if it is opinion/commentary. Have some integrity about yourself. This is your profession. This is not kindergarten or jr. high school. Their commentary sounds so personal. You don't hear that tone about any other team.
