What time does the draft start today? Noon, right?

Wait, what? That really happened and it wasn't a sick dream?

We have Randle and Williams, man. Don't worry.

Or should we call them Next stop: jailhouse and Mr. Glass?

Damien Wilson kind of fits, but in the 4th round it does throw up some question marks. Why I'm okay with this selection: Linebackers get hurt. For a while I figured you needed 4 good linebackers. Right now I think you need between 5 or 6. I think Wilson makes 4. Especially with the injury history of our linebackers.

Had we not signed Gachkar and Brinkley (and Rivers), I would have no issue with this. But we did. That alone makes there more than likely Lee, McClain, Hitchens, the two free agents and one other spot if we keep six. They could have just stopped here, but they didn't.

It was peculiar, for sure. The team apparently earmarked backup Ot and Backup backup LB as higher priority than starting runningback

I think the opportunity for a starting RB went out the window once Coleman and Johnson were taken ahead of our 3rd round pick.

I'm not a draft expert (far from it), but Jerry said they followed their board and they let the draft come to them. Basically that is all you can really ask for in some drafts. They got players they liked where they wanted them. Did they miss on some players, of course...

Missing is part of the draft, but are they learning from the mistakes that they made in the past?

McClain and Lee are perennially hurt, Gachkar has never started, Rivers is probably a camp body, and Brinkley might not fit this defense. It would be insane if they went and did not draft at least some prospects at the Linebacker position.

At least for this year I can understand their thinking.

Kendricks and McKinney were being considered in the 1st round so I'm not sure why people are surprised about them taking a LB.

He wasn't drafted to make the final 53 this year. He needs a year of good coaching and will be on the PS learning the pro game. 2016 training camp will be the time to determine if this pick makes sense not now. I did like what Norm said about him after the pick. Also consider players taken this late in the draft have a very very small chance to make any teams final 53. To take a flyer on a critical position such as OT seems pretty logical to me.

I agree, but I feel like we could have put that pick to better use.

Gibson is a better prospect than either Wetzel or Hawkins.

I like the strategy of taking athletes in the late rounds. We just need the coaches to make their money and turn potential into football ability. I'm looking forward to seeing these players develop. Other than seeing what Gregory's got and how the running game pans out, to me, the most interesting story of the upcoming season is going to be the development of the young DTs in which the team has obviously placed a lot of faith.

I obviously wasn't in tune with the needs of the team from the staff's view.
They either think that the RBs are amble or their looking at RBs currently
on another team [wink wink]. The load up at LB certainly covers that one
position. Since I dont study the lower rated players I can't have an opinion
until after training camp.

I just do NOT understand the facination with drafting a position. in the 4th or later wgwho was there that would have satisfied the RB crowd? Im more inclined to think that a day 3 rb would be a TOO LITTLE TOO LATE whines instead.

It is not always about the positions, but the overloading at a position.
Not whining a RB wasn't taken, but wish they would have. I don't like giving up a 6th round for a 7th rounder, they could have got with a regular pick, but they felt they needed another project LB.
That's my whine....but it's over, I'll accept it and move on. Hope they all prove out well.
Crap, I would rather they taken a WR after the 3rd than a RB actually. But their is an insane desire to collect LB's. And now DE's. But I guess a 5th round DE should be better than any 7th round or UDFA DE's they had on the roster.

They also have Watson they supposedly like. As well as some guys from last year they kept on the PS.
