In otherwords, if someone bails on a contract, the Commanders sue them for the money - then turn around and sell the tickets to someone else. So they get the money from selling the tickets plus the money from the lawsuit. AFAIK, legally speaking, if the Commanders are able to mitigate their damages then that helps take the burden off the defendant. Also, legally speaking, the Commanders have the responsibility to try and mitigate their damages (as mentioned in the article with the "landlord" example).

Since the entire basis of one of the lawsuits (involving Atlantic Transportation) mentioned in that article is that exact principle, it will be interesting to see the verdict.
