I don't think anyone is claiming that Dalton is the future of the franchise. The point is that if a solid journeyman QB like Dalton can lead the team to the play offs then why pay another QB 40 million a season!? It just doesn't make any sense especially when that QB isn't a game changer like an Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson.

Yeah I get that argument. We have been having it for years.

We will see.

But the cowboys also need a long term strategy at the position too. Dalton ain’t a long term strategy and drafting one in the mid 20’s has a low hit rate.

So like I said. If people really want the Jones’ boys to move on from Dak. They should be rooting for the cowboys to have the highest draft pick possible. So they have a shot at a highly regarded QB prospect.

otherwise I can see the Jones resigning Dak. Just as easily. Hopefully at a bit lower price due to the injury.

Let’s be real. Keeping Andy Dalton isn’t a strategy to win anything of significance either.

that’s the point.

If the cowboys are going to move on. They aren’t moving on for Andy Dalton.
Now this I agree with. The point is to "save" money instead of paying for an ok QB like Dak. If Dalton can keep up like this while not the future he shows that they might not have to go top pay scale for comparable play. That's a big if though after the first few. Dalton starts though. Dak might be here because of Dalton winning though so he should be happy about that. Further we get from pick 1 I'm like nah to taking a QB personally but still don't like Dak at top QB money.

I have to say, I was kind of on the edge of my seat all day watching Dalton. Andy played halfway decent today. But he is definitely not the future on this team. But who knows, lets see it the rest of the season goes.

I hear ya.

One of the things that made me start to open up about drafting a QB was the possibility of a Fields or other elite prospect. Any prospect that drops to 20 though? Generally they aren’t very good. Hit rate is low.

I guess we will have to see how the rest of the season plays out though man.

Not being a jerk, but how many were dropped when Dak was in? I bet at least 5...it happens all the time, but we won and that's all that matters.

he had a ton dropped in 17 and 18 and anyone who dare bring it up face the onslaught of the dak bots.

now tonight those same guys..."we won but he could have had an int to lose the game at the end there"

It's a difficult one.

If we were in the AFC I would agree completely as it's a vastly superior conference but regarding the NFC I just don't fear any teams. Saints defense is impressive and they are probably the team to beat yet I still think they are beatable. I'm not claiming that the Cowboys will make much noise in the play offs but to give up on a season when the team could improve a considerable amount as the season goes on for various reasons is a tough call. The defense is playing much better, the play calling was actually decent today and given that there were so many changes during the off season regards the coaching etc then we might continue to improve. The Vikings had just won their last three games including against the Packers and had been looking good. That was an impressive win today especially given it was close all the way.

Just when I start rooting for the tank. This team really is about to start making me care again.

I hate them.

Of course now they’ll probably rip my heart out on thanksgiving.

His passes were all over the place and he should have thrown an int in the end zone at the end. But he won so I’m cool.

for anyone interested in being logical, what this game really illustrates is that any viable NFL level QB can use the skill positions on this team to win when they have some competent Oline play and a defense that isn't a complete embarassment.

lmao, let's bring up that awesome onside kick for the win. yep legendary. and the other one, he gets no credit for either, if you don't finish the game you don't get a W. sheesh

technically super stats prescott with a big goose egg.
