If they get to the playoffs with Dalton and they play like this consistently offensively, they have no reason to pay Dak anywhere close to what he wants.

Let’s be real. Keeping Andy Dalton isn’t a strategy to win anything of significance either.

that’s the point.

If the cowboys are going to move on. They aren’t moving on for Andy Dalton.

the question is not are you better off with Dalton. The question is how much worse off are you for pennies on the dollar.
The question should be, "Is Dalton the best backup QB available?" There's no way anyone who's already on this roster is our starting QB next year, other than Dak.

andy did overlook a few wide open receivers during the game, but overall, he played a very good game. and given that we won against a good team, can't really complain too much. most surprising was the play of the entire o-line. they all were solid.

Well it does from the standpoint that the Vikes have won 3 games in a row against some good teams.
It is so weird how fans here want to quantify every play and every game win or loss..

So you guys are saying the Vikes are a bad team??

Really?

Coming into the game they had reinvented their season with 3 straight wins to be back in contention for the playoffs.

Just like what we are trying to do.

I am extremely happy for all of us.

And Thursday is another shot to distance ourselves in our little Kingdom of Whoa.

Kind of fun if you ask me.

:p

Lmao. It's Dalton's skill the Vikings guy let it bounce off his hands? He desperately wanted to lose this game but the Vikings didn't want any part of it. Not to mention the other pick he should have thrown earlier?
Not being a jerk, but how many were dropped when Dak was in? I bet at least 5...it happens all the time, but we won and that's all that matters.

That’s the BIGGEST takeaway.

we went from like 29th in the league in red scoring to 3 TDs and 1 FG. These weren’t paper state, these were a QB scoring when the defense is tight.

Dak is straight o mediocre in the red zone and has been years on end.
Well since you're SOOOO big on Dalton, maybe we should just keep Dalton as starter and forget about your crush on Trevor. ;)

there's really nothing to indicate andy moves to another team next year. he likes the area, he got a home in highland park which probably took some maneuvering on jerry's part to get it done. a reasonable offer and he's likely to stay.

And defense looked like another team from the first 8 games.

Can this team actually continue to get better?

Dalton had a very composed and efficient performance and got the win . Clearly when zack Martin is on the OL the team plays better offensively . Dallas can win with dalton and with Gilbert by the way .
Agree completely.

It shuts up those who claimed that Dalton had been playing with the exact same o line that Prescott had - we all saw the difference that Martin made today.

Don't compare him to Dak.

Dak is injured, out for the season, and irrelevant.

You have to get over the mindset of thinking of dak, and enjoy the games.

Dalton played a good game, and he made some big throws.

And most importantly, Cowboys had a 20+ yard t.d. run, and it was actually 40+

This was a losing team with Dak , in case you forgot .
Yeah, there’s zero comparison between Dak and Andy Dalton, and anyone with half a brain knows that.

Keep fighting the stupid fight.

I don't think anyone is claiming that Dalton is the future of the franchise. The point is that if a solid journeyman QB like Dalton can lead the team to the play offs then why pay another QB 40 million a season!? It just doesn't make any sense especially when that QB isn't a game changer like an Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson.

Agree they need better or cheaper that will get similar results..

Paying Dak just keeps us consistently mediocre.

Today was a bad win in the long run.
