Here's another Favorite.

Opie the Birdman

When Andy gives Opie a talking to after he kills the mother bird, and then opens the window and makes Opie listen to the hungry babies...Powerful stuff.

I'd be shocked if this hasn't been posted here before. Should be required viewing for everyone who self-identifies as a football fan. It's one of the most brilliantly ever performed/written comedic sketches on any topic.

I have so many favorites.

The ones you mentioned, as well as anything with Ernest T. Bass. I especially liked the one titled "Man in a Hurry." His car breaks down and he has to spend a Sunday in Mayberry. Mr. McBeevie also is good. And the one where Barney watches a Glenn Ford movie, then gets inspired to break into the Mayberry Bank to show what a "crackerbox" it is.

Opie's Mom has died too. It is one of the most powerful episodes of TV. I am riveted every time that one comes on.

I never thought of that angle. They never really talk about his mom and how she died.

I swear to you, I nearly cry every time I see that little boy realize he has killed those baby birds mama. It truly gets to me. They did a great job contrasting Opie to the birds.

Floyd the Barber. In the very first show it was an older man with white hair. Howard McNear took over in season 1 and was Floyd from then on.

I loved the Bird show, MR Mcbeevie, the little kid that threw a tantrum every time he did not get his way so Opie copied him, and the show where Gomer made a "Citizens ArrYEsst, Citizins ArrEyest" on Barnie.

Funny tonight I was talking about that show with my grandson. I propped my ballcap bill upwards and said "Surprise, Surprise Surprise" He didn't get it. I will have to show him.

I always thought Andy should have had a hotter girlfriend than Helen Crump tho. I liked his first girlfriend, Elinor Donohue. Helen, Not so much.

Gomer and Goober were cousins. Goober did impersonations,
"Judy, Judy, Judy"!!!
