I can deal with the trio of Aikman, Collinsworth, and Buck.....same goes with the Sunday night crew and I like watching games that the Moose calls, but I cannot stand Madden at all. Gumble was a pain to listen to as is most of the other CBS announcers. You can also add Balldinger to the list that I'd rather Mute the TV than listen to.
Balldinger is probably the worst I've heard. He seems to just fall in line with any existing stereotypes he's heard about players. When's the last time that guy ever made an insightful comment that aided a fan's understanding of the game?
I don't think the trio of Aikman, Buck and Collinsworth is bad either, but Collinsworth can get grating at times. Listening to him defend Eli Manning was sickening in recent weeks. Manning would complete one pass and Collinsworth would comment on what a great game he was having. Aikman would continually have to set him straight.
Aikman can be a tad negative, but he's the most realistic of the bunch. He's also extremely complimentary when he sees something impressive. I think his standards are so high that he is rarely impressed by players until they demonstrate a consistent ability to perform.
Moose is also a little on the negative side. I think he provides great insight and analysis, but he becomes whiny over the course of a broadcast. You can't watch a Moose broadcast without hearing the phrase "_____ is failing to capitalize on opportunities and it will come back to bite them." As true as it is, an inability to consistently capitalize is a league-wide epidemic, save maybe one or two teams.
I think Dick Stockton is becoming one of the worst play-by-play guys around, though he's better this year than he was last season. The guy bumbled so many names and plays last year it was unbelievable.
Out of everyone, I probably like listening to Troy's analysis the most. I think out of everyone, he attempts the hardest to be unbiased and not fall in line with the media hype. If he has an opinion, he'll give it to you, whether or not it's well received. Rarely does he have an uneducated opinion, so I think he's great to listen to in that regard.
