Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with players celebrating, it's just I see guys dance around, pound their chests, flex etc when they make a tackle after the runner say gains five yards and the team is down by something like 21 points.

Landry must be rolling over in his grave.

As for a non pet-peeve, listening to Pat Summerall call a game yesterday (he did the 49er-Bear game). I didn't watch much because it was such a blowout and the Eagle/Giants games were more important to the Cowboys, but his voice is still so smooth.

When he called a Bear TD, I could almost hear him calling Irvin "wiiide open" during our glory years.

you know summerall used to get tanked when he worked with madden. by the 4th quarter he would be getting players mixed up and getting names wrong and madden would be correcting him but trying to be real subtle about it. That used to crack me up.

Yeah that's funny.

I did think about doing the word "OFF" with a white fence before that commercial. Then I'd probably see some idiots doing it for the next 30 years.

The rage for subject headings on this board that ......

do not specify the actual contents of what are usually very disappointing threads.

#31 likes to push WR's down after the ball has already fallen incomplete. Its going to result in a personal foul call one of these days that's going to keep a scoring drive alive.

Yeah, I saw that too last night and was just waiting for the flag!

You right, it WILL get called!

Watching the games players can be really annoying at what they do after they make a good play:

1) pointing the sky after they make a play or thanking Jesus for letting them win;

First, don't just pick on those who thank Jesus. I think some Muslim players point to the sky too.

Second, I think folks who are offended by this display read too much into it. It's not a theological treaties in as much as it's gratitude and thanking the ultimate source of one's ability.

As Hoov wrote above, I queried last year if it would be ok for a player to thank Satan for his gifts if he was a satanist?

I thought I saw the "OFF"/Fence sign at the game last night.

And they could make the sign of a pentagram on their chest. Lots of room for hilarity in sports.

I think he Greg was pointing up to Jerry and thanking him for making him stay in Dallas.:laugh2:

Well, I don't pretend to be an expert on Satan worship but I don't think they believe that Satan created them so I would have to say that would be a bit odd.

Now, if they used levitation to create somekind of play I guess it would be appropriate.

It is amazing how someone elses' beliefs causes you a pet peeve especially when the name Jesus is mentioned.

Ellis is on pace to have carreer high sacks. Wouldn't that be funny if he ended up his career here at Dallas being more successful as OLB than he was at DE!

actually the pentagram is a powerful symbol, generally used in banishings and often for protection from evil.

it is the upside down or inverted pentagram that generally represents something negative against humanity.

its just that people associate rituals and ceremonial magik with satan and witchcraft and movies have expounded on that.

No one mentioned Jesus, just pointing toward the sky. Sounds like a discussion that could be suggested to be moved to the political zone.

It would be a welcomed site to see it happen. I'm really proud of Ellis, instead of pouting about this he has gone out and worked hard and the end results are looking pretty good for him right now.

well i think it has to do with the basic idea that God would be more concerned than which players team wins a football game. and for the player to thank god, well what about the player he just schooled, should he be angry at god that his opponent was blessed more than him.

Come on everyone knows God is a Cowboy fan. You know hole in the roof so he can watch his team. So there is really no need for players on other teams giving thanks and praise because God is a Cowboy fan. :lmao2: Lets get real. :laugh1:

I hate watching WR complain after every incomplete pass wanting a PI call. Key is the worst,, always comes up looking for the flag.. just play the game..

yeah, excellent point. used to like watching players go up and fight for the ball, now everything is PI.......except the blind side hit in the back by the LB that comes right before the ball gets there on thge underneath crossing route or the hook.. That is almost never called and should be because it makes it almost impossible to catch when you are pushed forward into a hard thrown ball.

Yes they did, just look at the first post.

And no, I don't think God cares who wins and loses football games but pointing to the sky to acknowledge your creator and the one who gives you the ability you have is not thanking him for the win.
