I asked a player if Mike McCarthy should return and he had this to say “I only think it’s fair if he gets one more shot but more on his terms from the standpoint of really being able to run it how he wants.” He went on to say “ Whoever else you go with there’s going to be an ‘unknown’ but he did build something pretty good over the last 5 years with one hand behind his back because it’s not easy being a head coach here but it’s worth it because it’s the number one brand in sports."
The player also added one of the things that would help Mike McCarthy is extra help in the weight and training room. I asked him to elaborate “More help. I mean like more bodies. Most places got so many hands on deck to cater to guys. Britt (Brown) is awesome and cares a lot but he only has a couple of guys to help. Same with Harold (Nash) he has the respect and love of the locker room but having another person or two to focus solely on recovery managing, etc. so players will feel more taken care of and the staff can focus on building the performance program more.” The player adds it will cost money to add more people but he sees value in that

So yet another example of Jerry being cheap and wont pay for a full staff....The crazy part of all this is Jerry and staff might actually be good enough at finding bargain bin talent to actually win a championship, but he refused to spend money on coaches, players (aside from his guys) and now are starting to hear that the support staff is undermanned.

He claims McCarthy is one of the best coaches in the league but he's tied for 16th in salary, which means he's an average coach if we go by that.

He didn't know about Cooper Rush's incentive either. For someone who makes so much money, he really doesn't understand it. Unless he's lying through his teeth... I would hate to think he's ever lied to us. I know he said that 1997 team was the most talented he's ever had right before the season. I guess he was just mistaken. Surely he wasn't lying.

I said all season we needed to fire this strength and conditioning staff because of all the injuries. Now hearing they're undermanned? I don't know. That could be a nice way of saying they suck.

In my opinion he thinks he's smarter than everyone else and his way is the best, moreso than him just being cheap. When you look at the stadium, the star, it's obvious he will spend what is required. The problem is in his mind "The Brand" is bigger than what happens on the field and in the end winning and losing will never be the most important thing. So I see why people say he's cheap, but I think the root of that is because he wants to do it his way and he cares more about the brand, which to me is a circus and he's the head clown.

The brand is fading. There's going to be even less people at training camp this year than last.

Employing that logic, Dak would be the best player in the NFL.

That said, Dak's gaudy contract proves Jerry isn't necessarily a skinflint. It's just that, insofar as football operations are concerned, he tends to lavish his money on assets that don't produce results.

Hmmm...let's see...a better support staff, or a helipad at the Star?

Didn't Jerry make MM get rid of a bunch of his staff a few years back?
On the postgame yesterday, Sham and Broaddus mentioned a "prisoner swap" (their words) deal where when Mike apparently wanted to fire Leon Lett, Jerry fired Rob Davis in return.

For those who forgot, Davis was hired just to improve locker room culture and relations.

Why any owner would think like that, who knows. Maybe just so the players and the coach know who the boss is?

Either way, the way Jerry runs this team is ridiculous.

Well, let's see..

You've got at least 70 athletes between active roster and p-squad, then all the injured players, which could add another 10 or so athletes so now we're up to 80.

It sounds like they have less than 10 guys to really give players the proper attention they need.
.. well it's weightlifting how much rocket science is involved in that?
