Well Zordon, if you want to use this anonymous poll to validate your draft expertise, that means Byron Jones is a now a great draft pick because he scored a 7!
I'll admit, I'm pleasantly surprised with what I've heard about him so far this camp. I heard on the radio that he worked very hard on catching the ball in the offseason. Personally my biggest issue with him has been his suspect tackling. Let's see if he brings all these improvements on gameday. I'll gladly eat crow if he brings some stability/reliability to the safety position.

Agreed.

Green is solid, but always hurt. Everybody knows Carroll is a bum. Gathers was an 6th round project ... hard to call that a bust.

I don't think Taco will be a bust nor will he be a 10+ sack a year guy. He will be a solid rotational guy who starts a bunch of games for us.

Apples to oranges, but reminds me of Chris Canty here. Will be a starter for several years and be a solid guy who gives us tons of snaps and 4-8 sacks a year. Anybody who follows Dallas will understand his role and importance to our defense.
I think that comparison of Chris Canty is accurate. I do not think anyone will disagree we selected for need with out first pick
Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
San Francisco 49ers: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
Philadelphia Eagles: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
Miami Dolphins: Charles Harris, DE/OLB, Missouri
looking at whom we had no options on, we got the fifth best choice at DE in round 1. Our expectations should be grounded in reality. I am still optimistic as training camp has just started and Taco's attitude is very positive.

which one? The one at the crescent on Maple? I like that one.
Lakewood.
The one near Mi Cosina and the old theater

I don't think he lives over here though.
But come think of it, Id seen him in the past at the one on Greenville before it moved.

The uptown ones are where you might run into Zeke et al.

He's still around. I saw him at the opening PC.

Great. So he's in that vote, I'm guessing. That man's disdain for the Cowboys knows no bounds.

He's like an opposing team's fan who has decided to work in Dallas specifically to get paid to be a hater.

He loves Awuzie though!

And of course, his dream come true was when we got his Ohio State home-boy Zeke

Really thou cas, he went high school here in Dallas. I think he's a Cowboys fan, but tends to be a pessimist. He's coming around some finally

I want to know what idiots voted for Nolan Carroll as a "bust".

The guy is a league average, dime a dozen CB. How can someone like that be labeled a "bust"?

Here is the issue with the media. They get bored during the off season and then write a bunch of non sense. I can recall a time where a player was allowed to actually go out and play the games before anyone would even think of them as a "Bust". Seems Taco is dealing with over coming failure when he has not failed. lol

Give these young men a chance before trying to label them.

Taco went in the draft where most expected him to go, late 1st/early 2nd. Yes Need plays a part but then having BPA/who fits a need is not a bad thing. I don't think Cowboys reached in getting him. How he pans out and how he does vs other DE who went ahead of him we will soon find out.

Foster who had some flags on him would be one guy I think would've qualified as BPA went to San Fran a couple of picks later. Just sayin if we did not check out his injury I would be surprised. That man is a prototypical Luke Kuechly clone. At pick 28 it made me scratch my head. BPA was not used with this pick this year just BPA at need. Others who had red flags but more football talent would be Joe Mixon, Dalvin Cook, and Forest Lamp (guard) who had no off field flags. I think a case could be made for Taco being behind these guys.
It really does not matter just training camp fodder. Taco is a cowboy and I back him fully, trying to keep the expectation real for his rook year.
Even a very good draft pales in comparison to last years harvest.

If you go by the grades they were getting at the Combine then Charlton graded out better than Mixon, Cook and Lamp. Granted these grades are based on a formula that may not be perfect but none the less Charlton still graded out higher. As for the draft again Dallas did not reach from where Charlton was expected in the draft which again was late 1st early 2nd and yes Dallas needs also played a factor. If I have 4 guys all grading out about the same and 1 out of the 4 guys fills a need then yes it makes sense to get the guy who provides a need
