2008 Pick #22 > Ross

Spencer > Steve Smith

Stanback = DeOssie, can't really claim either is better at this point.

Free > Koets

Folk > Boss

But, yeah, Brashaw was a great pickup in the 7th. Overall, I'd take our draft any day over theirs.

wasnt deossie there long snapper? those guys are pretty important. In fact ours needs to be resigned soon so ireland and parcells dont steal him and give us another hole.

Stanback barely dressed. Hopefully he has a role next season.

Yeah, he is (he made a nice hit on the last kickoff coverage unit on sunday too). I really liked him last year before the draft. That was a good pick by the Giants.

Yeah, I liked him a lot too (a lot of us did), and wanted us to pick him up where we got Stanback, but I still stand by the "=" even if he was their longsnapper.

I also wanted Steve Smith and think we would have stayed put if he'd fell a couple more spots to us.

Yeah, those guys has started off pretty good. at least Smith and Bradshaw has, Ross he did okay, maybe he will get better but I saw too many flaws in his game and to be honest I did not think he was all that good here at UT.

Maybe Alford will be good , maybe he will not, he showed up on one play last night, and he had not been able to get past special team duty the whole season.

It is just the begining, fella, it is a long road. Our picks still have time to show their stuff. Marten and Free or McQuistan maybe this next season, as well as a fullback active(not rehabbing) offseason for Stanback at the Wr position.

Brown and Ball, may progress even more with Reeves, Nate Jones and Davis out of the way.

Sometimes other players have to be removed or move on in order for, up and coming more talented players are able to shine.

Saying all that we still need to draft a Felix Jones, not DMC, a Talib, a WR just in case Miles Austin don't pan out and it takes Stanback a little longer to develop.

Maybe it is time for Ayodele to get replaced by Burnett, just like it was time for Jones to get moved out of Barber's way.

Henry has never been a speed burner, he was a safety, that was moved to corner after his rookie season in cleveland (in which as a rookie safety he had 10 ints), but we need Talib.

we could possibly come out of this draft with 2 RBs.

At WR, we need to stay away from Limas Sweed, someone keeps posting that we should get him, he is not that good, he has potential, but as it is he is fools gold,

He likes to run his mouth, and not show up, like in the game against the sooners he told Kelly that everyone will see the real Number 4, and we did Malcolm Kelly.

You are including their 1st rounder, but not ours?

To be fair, the Giants were counting on Aaron Ross and Steve Smith to contribute this year. They also probably counted on Alford to fit in their DL rotation some and Bradshaw to be a 3rd down type back. Obviously, Bradshaw waaaaay exceeded their expectations.

Going into the season (and after the draft, really), we knew Free and Marten wouldn't play barring injury. They were taken for the future with the immediate time being used for development/strength training. That's not uncommon for OL. Stanback was known as a project player. Brown and Ball suck....so you may have a point there, but then again, they were 7th rounders. Odds are they were going to suck anyway.
Honestly, the Giants RB depth was ridiculous this year. I'm actually jealous of that. They started with Jacobs, Ward, Bradshaw, Droughns, and Grant. 1st they trade Grant for a ham sandwich. Droughns was ineffective and was buried at the bottom. Ward was taking over the starting spot before he was IR'd. And they finished off the season with Jacobs and Bradshaw.

They're gonna have an interesting running back competition next year.

You fail to mention the fact that the likes of Bradshaw and Boss were thrown in there because of injuries to starters. It's likely that many of those guys' contributions would have been far less significant if the starters stayed healthy. For this to be a fair assessment, we would have had to have guys like Flozell, Witten, and Hamlin hit the IR.

Exactly. Who's to say that if Flozell had gotten hurt that Doug Free wouldn't have come in and shut down Osi Umenyioura in the playoffs? He would be gatting praised for being a 4th round steal. For all we know, he could do it.

Same if Colombo got hurt and Martin had to play.

Both those guys were held back so they could watch and learn. They may be pro bowlers for all we know.

I don't think our draft class is going to end up being a lot of busts. I just question whether if we had been forced to play 5 rookies in the playoffs if they would have performed the way the Giants rooks did.

If two of our tackles had gotten hurt, I would think McQ would have seen time before the 2nd of Free/Marten. If Stanback had been forced into action it would have been pretty iffy.

Spencer and Folk obviously contributed, and I could see one of Free or Marten actually playing.

But if Ball and/or Brown had been forced into action in our secondary, we would have been in huge trouble IMO. I mean Jacques Reeves and Nate Jones were playing ahead of them.
