Billions of people have access to the internet where they can easily research how to kill someone. I think it still speaks volume that where I live and in a lot of places in the USA, a whole lot in fact that murder rate is going down. Where I am it has reached the same level as the 1960's murder rate.

I believe it is but remember there have been plenty of that in the past like Jim Jones/riots/zealots in lynching etc. I don't think mass murder is up 300% or anything like that, would be interesting to check on.

Interesting at least for this year it is down for the mass murder total, last year it was 60 dead and with one more day in the year over last year to date we have 30 mass murder victims in 2014.

No nothing specified it can be any type any means, only 4 or more dead in one incident. One thing on type I noticed is that at least half if not majority of these were family on family massacres.
