Gil Brandt should have gotten in.

I know Ron Wolf is highly revered, however, the teams he GM'd only won a single Superbowl (1996) and made it to one other and lost (1997).

Not saying he doesn't maybe deserve it someday but I am also of the mind the Gil Brandt is more worthy.

It takes a great team to go to 4 straight super bowls, even if they lost every time

Winning a Super Bowl > losing 4 straight.

The Bills shouldn't have as many players and coach in the HOF as quickly as they do. Winning should matter A LOT but the Bills somehow seem to be making it in with ease.

Andre Reed is the only one I think got in too easy. Never should have gotten in over Tim Brown or Cris Carter, although Carter may have been the same class

Cris Carter is in the Class of 2013. His last season was 2002.

Andre Reed is in the Class of 2014. His last season was 2000.

Tim Brown is in the Class of 2015. His last season was 2004.

The NFC championship game in the 90s was the real Super Bowl.
I imagine those four straight Super Bowl loses still sting those Bills players and fans.

I was actually rooting for them in their non Cowboy Super Bowl games.

Yeah I mean the Cowboys DID win 3 but even they couldn't make the claim of going to 4 straight Super Bowls.

That's just it though.

If the Bills were in the NFC, they probably wouldn't of made it to one Super Bowl, much less four. That's how dominant the conference was back then.

I'll submit that the 90's Packers, the 90's 49ers and perhaps some of the 90's Eagle's teams were better than the Bills were. We already know how much better we were then them and I'm not even counting the two other teams they lost to in the Super Bowl in the 90's.

Greatness is a term that gets thrown around alot. I don't think they were great. They played in an far inferior conference. All of the teams mentioned above, except the Eagles (lol), won Championships in the 90's and they had to do it by going through us just like we had to beat them when we won our three.

Yeah blame the media. Who else should pick? Players clueless? Coaches? Fans really clueless!

I don't oppose Polian so much. But neither Levy nor Reed - at the least - should be in the Hall of Fame. And I bet Tasker gets in.

Just because you don't like the facts doesn't mean they are not true. I would prefer a media (and an NFL) that was without hidden agendas but that's not happening anytime soon.

I mean, they say the knock against Jimmy is that he wasn't so great in Miami. But apparently Levy's mediocrity in Kansas City wasn't held against him.

Which facts?

Unfortunately Jimmy had such a short career of 9 years coached. Even if you throw out Levy's time in KC he still produced 112 wins compared to Jimmy's 80 wins in Dallas and Miami combined. Levy's 143 career wins is one short of the 144 career games that Jimmy coached total.

I believe a Hall of Famer is a combination of both impact and longevity. Jimmy has the impact, but lacks in longevity. And his impact is lacking just a little compared to others that could be viewed as having similar careers. You have guys like Lombardi(73.8%) and Madden(75.9%) who only coached 10 years, but their winning percentages are much higher than Johnson's(55.6%).

Jimmy will probably get some serious consideration at some point. Perhaps as a future senior committee members choice. Another reason he hasn't made it yet is that there were always concerns of him coaching again. The HoF would prefer not having a current member active in the league. That is why Parcell's election was delayed. Joe Gibbs got elected because no one actually thought he would go back to coaching again, but they underestimated the crazy that is Dan Snyder.

Meh, could care less, you can debate this random nonsense ad nauseam, you can't debate 3 Super Bowl victories in 4 years.

I'll happily enjoy the latter

I was driving around this afternoon thinking that even if Charles Haley were voted into the NFL Hall of Fame Saturday, the NFL would still find a way to sneak another member of the 1990s Buffalo Bills into the Hall. It was an amusing thought at the time. Ha, ha, ha. After all, Steve Tasker wasn't on the ballot this year. So how could that possibly happen?

I spoke too soon. And yes, they had to create a new special category to do it.

So Bill Polian AND Marv Levy are in the NFL Hall of Fame. Jimmy Johnson isn't.

And the 1990s Bills still have more players in the Hall of Fame than the Dallas Cowboys teams that crushed them.

Levy coached 17 years. Jimmy only 9.

Also, our GM will end up in the hall after retirement. No doubt about that one.

This is about Polian actually being retired and Jimmy not sticking around very long. To act like voters favor the Bills in any way is just silly conspiracy theory stuff

Yes, but would they have gone to four straight with Dallas and SF in the same conference. Not a prayer.

I respect what the Bills did but they played in a weak conference. We had to make it past our division and then the damn Niners and Packers. That's on another level.
