All great to see. But what about the runs he didn't make, or got stuffed or 1 or 2 yard gains?

Not to down play it. But no RB runs like the in the NFL all the time. They will need to design some pretty good plays, and hope it takes some time before the defenses to figure it out.

I think he can have some success. But how often will he be in the game. I guess a strong TC will help with that.

Duece Vaughn has big play potential written all over him. Durability at the NFL level can be called into question but it will remain only a question if-and-until Vaughn cannot play effectively.

In my opinion, Vaughn's only tangible question mark is how well he might pass block in situations where the pre-snap read mandates he stay in the backfield and provide protection for the quarterback. The only football conferences I watch regularly are the SEC and the Sun Belt, not the Big 12. How well does he typically fend off pass rushers, especially those coming off the edges?

Yeah, they must have some really poor GM's. Glad we have Jerry now? :muttley::popcorn:
Good thing for Vaughn that we brought in all of these advanced analytics guys after the draft.

No way they would have given their blessing. Not that it would have mattered. The feel good headline was going to happen regardless.

A fan who followed his career in college posted there were a lot of those where he got stuffed for one or two yards. You could probably make a long highlight reel out of those. We’ll find out if he can find any creases in the NFL.

There are far more stuffs than big runs. You dont have the meager YPC average that he did unless he was stopped a lot to offset those big, hilight real runs.

And he won't have those in the NFL. Maybe some other league.

I'll bet he's a pre-season phenom, just like Turpin was.

Once the real games start, then we'll find out how good the kid really is.
The NFL ain't College...

What will be interesting in post game PC .... Analytics said he should have went right, but he went left.... So if he scores going left, the analytics were wrong, but does not score going right he does not score. Or whatever the case may be. What will they say...oh, wait, our media will not ask tough questions....

Remember the SF playoff game. Turpin went left instead of right...left, got tackled, right he scores. And on that series after he was tackled, Dak threw that INT. I think it was that series.
I know that was not analytics but he did make the wrong choice. But easy for us to say sitting on a couch or wherever.

I think he'll struggle in preseason games. He needs perfect blocking and clean lanes. He'll be running behind 3rd and 4th team oline combinations. So it probably wont be to clean.

On the bright side, he'll be running against a bunch of guys who wont make a team either.

If this coaching staff uses this guy right, he is going to make some heads turn. Watch his vision when he runs, he is always looking for open avenues to run. I know, if it wasnt for Pollard, we would all be scratching our head as to what that means :)

Hope so.

But he’s little and can’t block.

C gap player?

I can't believe the mods are allowing this assault on the "Deuce hype train" you should all have your accounts suspended

Deuce is more than capable of making big plays in the NFL, and he won't be the first back to ever be stopped for a one or two yard gain, that's not a good argument.

He was a sixth round pick for a reason and a lot of fans seem to think it was strictly due to his size. I’m pulling for him, but I’m not going to get all juiced up over a sixth round pick. You would think he was a top five pick the way some fans are going nuts over him.

Any RB can be stuffed at the line, and any RB can look like a stud with a big clean hole. It's what happens between those 2 extremes that separates the great from the good. Powerful backs with good balance can make a little something out of nothing. Sometimes a 3 yard run is actually a very good run. This is where my concern with Deuce lies.

Thats my whole deal in replying to these countless Deuce threads. To provide a pragmatic break to all this hype.

I personally dont think he makes the final roster. He'll be on the practice squad a couple years so he can hang out with his dad.

But if he can prove himself to warrant a roster spot and makes this team better in some way, then Im all for taking a very late 6th round comp pick flyer on him.

Its exactly that. Can he run through contact.

He will virtually never have the gaping holes he had in college. And in the passing game he will have highly athletic nickle backs covering him so he wont be wide open as he was in those hilight clips.
