Sigh.

Brookings.

Age 33.

Beloved in Atlanta. Respected. A "leader".

Such a leader that he was gonna be signed by Atlanta as a reserve.
So what does he do?
He migrates to America's team where Jerra has never met an old veteran he didn't like.

last year, the anointed leader was Zach Thomas, another over-the-hill guy who was all hat and no ranch.

Seriously, I am disenchanted with this strategy by Jerra to sign spent has-beens (redundant, I know) who want to be "leaders" here.

Signing Brooking had nothing to do with Jerry and everything to do with the head coach wanting him.

Bingo! Also Brooking was going to be a reserve in a different scheme and he played out of position last year anyway. I am not saying the guy is Dick Butkus, but he will be a good two down player in the 3-4.

For the love of God can we stop with the doom and gloom and nothing we do is good enough?

The draft hasn't even happened yet. How do you know we're not going to draft an ILB and groom him under Brooking?

I'm not pointing the finger solely at you, but this offseason is ridiculous because whatever the Cowboys do, fans tear into it like it is the worst decision ever made.

I usually like Shango, but he's off the reservation. He can't say anything good about the Cowboys anymore. We had a bad year. Now lets get over it and move on to this upcoming season, where I think we'll be just fine.

Brooking still ranked fairly high in tackles (29th) in the NFL and Dallas is not paying a kings ransom for him. Clearly he is not the 1 man who will get Dallas over the top but as a LB he is still a player who can produce.

I remember Eugene (the hitting machine) Lockhart leading the Cowboys in tackles. That was just before he was sacked by the Cowboys. Some positions just lend themselves naturally to a high amount of tackles.

but I appreciate your optimism.

Thank you...I thought the same thing. Seems as if 90% of posts lately is negative. If A player sneezes and reaches for a puffs, someone will complain that Jerry over spent by not buying Wal-Mart brand.....

I remember Lockhart as well I have also seen Brooking play and know he is a much better player than Lockhart ever dreamed of being. I'm not claiming Brooking to be the teams savior but replacing Zack Thomas giving Dallas a vet who can come in and contribute Brooking can do that for us. Dallas still needs to look to the draft but given the fact many rookies take some time Brooking allows that to happen.

I don't know what he would know about defense, Pollyanna.

The important thang is, what does WP know about winning a playoff game? Yea, maybe winning an actual playoff game with a cast of senior citizens is the way to go. Anything is worth a try.

It is depressing he is still the head coach.

But you cannot begrudge him a shot with the players he wants.
