This is an ideal depth player who has enough innitiative to train hard and compete for a starting job if Barbie or the rookie draft pick won't take the bull by the horns. Keith Brooking still led that team in tackles and will tackle the ball carrier on his shift. Not saying this is his 2nd and 3rd season but he's familiar with Wades scheme, adds size and credibility to the WILB position.

He has another solid year or 2 in him. Atlanta wanted to keep him and I hear was willing to give him more $. This was about schematics and playing for a coach and team he wanted to be around. This garbage about he's washed up is ridiculous. Brooking would start on at least half of the leagues teams at LB regardless of a 4-3 or 3-4 scheme.

Regardless, we needed to get another vet LB and young LB via this draft since our 1st round pick from almost 4 yrs ago is a bust that focuses more on gossip. If you guys think Brooking is the equivalent of Thomas in this scheme you know nothing about the 3-4. I'm hearing it from fans and media all over. This is a good signing, especially for the $. I know, you guys rather have Ray Lewis for almost $20 million guranteed for another 4 years at about $8 million a year who will be 34 in a month. Brooking gets $2.5 million guaranteed at about $2 million a year for the next 3 years. 1/8 in guarantees and about 1/5 in overall salary comparing what Lewis would get. Yet Brooking will give you at least 80% of what Ray Lewis can talent wise at this point.

Another good signing would be Shawn Springs, especially if it's a deal like Brookings. It wouldoffer us somuch flexibility going into the draft. By the way, FA is made up of mostly aging players that aren't out playing their cotract anyways. I don't see Jerry signing a whole bunch of these old used up players every year. When Parcy had Fergy, Henry and Rivera that's the year we went old but we were so young anyways. Our team is in the middle of the pack age wise. O-lineman have their best years from 28-32 so of you're looking there for these "old man" signing that's the wrong spot. Just don't see where you guys feel Jerry signs these old men every off season. Would love to know where you get a 25 year old player in his peak during FA also.
