Another offseason like 2005 and we're a Super Bowl Contender

We were so damn close this year it wasn't even funny (it was actually quite painful at times; see 9/19/05). Look at our first 5 losses. All of them are games that we not only could have won but definitely should have won. The final two losses were an anomaly against Washington and a team that had cleary just given up against St. Louis.

Take all of the little things that just did not go our way this season, factor in another great offseason like we had last year, and you will get a team that could easily be playing in Miami on 2/4/07.

Believe it.

There's no IFs and BUTs in this business.

Frankly-if they had gotten old-fashioned butt-lickings in all of their losses(rather than W's in the bag turned into heart-breaking L's), it would have been alot easier to forget and move on.

The fact that we had everything going for us, but let it slip through our fingers, just plain STINGS.

I do not think we are that far away and if we have a good offseason we could be as good as anyone in the NFC...
Heck if we just had a good kicker we would be talking about next weeks game.....

Kicker , Center and another playmaker on defense.

Frankly, we were close to having alot more losses as well....some of those close wins could have/should have, been losses as well.

Don't forget RT, RG, FS and while we are at it, lets get a WR too.

I agree, we need to take care of kicker OL FS and a little here and there and we will be set!

True, the second Philly game made up for the first Skins loss.

However-that first Skins game all but set the tone for both us and them for the remainder of the season, IMHO. IF we had provided the KO punch early, then the Skins would have likely had a 1-4 hole to dig out of, and our long-term morale wouldn't have been shot down.

Umm.. is all this happening with Bledsoe behind center? I think not! Time to scrap all the band-aid plans and start building this team right.

I think there is a good chance that next year, all NFC East teams finish at .500 or above.

Talk about the best division in football. Almost 3 teams made it into the playoffs.

I think we'll have a chance to win a wildcard game next year.
But we're not close to the SB, although I'm sure there are always some who will dream. I remember in the mid and late '80's I received the Dallas Cowboys Weekly and every offseason there'd be letters to the editor about how Dallas was poised to go to the Super Bowl, only to eventually end up going 7-9 or even 3-13 in Landry's last year.

Anything is possible, especially if everything goes your way. But I don't see us being more than a wildcard team, especially with our core of old veterans on offense. And I think the Giants will be just as good if not better with Eli having another year of experience. I also think Washington with Gibbs finally getting comfortable will be a threat. And Philly, once they get healthy and shore up some areas will be right back in the mix. And that is only the NFC East.

Super Bowl, very doubtful. Chasing a #6 seed is more likely.

The NFC east next year could be the best division the NFL has seen in years. ALL 4 could be in the running. Just depends on how the offseason goes and who gets injured next year. Injuries killed the Eagles (which kind of puts the kabosh on that BS about how everyone has injuries amd the good teams get around them- pile of total crap).

The Giants have more problems then an inaccurate Manning. The Skins also have more problems then a injury prone Brunnel. The Eagles actually might be the biggest threat if everyone comes back healthy. BUt in todays NFL we are a threat to go to the SB. Simply the way it is now.

4 of the last 6 SB winners didnt make the playoffs the year before their championsip run. Remember St. Louis? 5-11 in 1998.

Yes, it can happen. In fact, it usually does.

I was looking at last year and both WC teams had 8-8 records (minnesota and St Louis).... and this year the two records for the WC teams were 11-5 and 10-6 quite an improvement....
