If he hits FA next year, we should consider trying to sign him. Bills may not want to franchise him given the cost of doing so.

His numbers seem pretty comparable to RW. He is an elite deep threat and we would need a possession receiver to work opposite him.

For him to see FA next year, the WR they take this year will have to play lights out. That or they'll have to replace him w/ another costly FA.

The Bills simply don't have the depth at WR to afford losing him.

Ok, here is another option I just thought about. I know it's kind of like playing fantasy GM before the draft, but it's still a realistic thought.

With Ocho, and Boldin most likely off the market, and even though I'm still with Hostile and think the RW deal get's done. What do you guys think about the possibility of Lee Evans? He is in the final year of his contract as well. I know Buffalo needs receivers, but it's just a thought. Any team can be swayed. If we are looking for a compliment to TO like Jerry says, he would sure fit that mold....talk about a deep threat! Anyway, just another vet WR to keep an eye out for...I'm pretty certain I've heard nobody speak about him. Apparently they have has brief discussions about an extention, but that is about it. Here is a look of his career numbers:

Year G Rec. Yds Y/G Avg. TD
2004 16 48 843 52.7 17.6 9
2005 16 48 743 46.4 15.5 7
2006 16 82 1292 80.8 15.8 8
2007 16 55 849 53.1 15.4 5

Not great, but decent numbers. One of the best deep guys in the NFL. Also, consider that the Bills have not had a QB worth a crap his entire career. Although I do think Edwards is going to be a good one.

Another option to chew on for the next 4 days until we can get this thing going!
He's their best offensive player. Why would they want to get rid of him?

why on Earth would Buffalo trade Lee Evans. They are looking for compliments. They are a team on the rise.

Why not just make a thread for every teams best wr? Andre johnson anyone?

Why?!?!! Did you hear an Andre Johnson rumor? :laugh2:

Now there's a receiver I'd gladly give up multiple firsts for.

Haven't you heard? Other teams exist solely to make our wildest dreams come true through lopsided trades.

Evans is Buffalo's #1 wr, as well as their best offensive weapon. Evans isn't going anywhere.

RW, Boldin, and Ocho are there respective teams best players as well. Why would those teams want to get rid of them????? I was just putting it out there as another option. It's way better than the Matt Jones thread!

Those guys are their respective teams best players or at least their best wide receivers. Those teams also have very good #2 options in Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald and T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Some could even make a case that the #2 guys are better or will be better down the road than the #1 options. It is close enough that they can afford to sacrifice their best weapons to gain something in another area. It is quite a luxury for a team to have two top notch receivers. Buffalo does not have that luxury. They have only Evans, so them losing him is not equivalent to Detroit, Arizona or Cincy losing their top receiver.
