Another reason why Jerry MIGHT make the DMAC deal

I was thinking about it and I think Jerry might be looking to get that big draw guy into the new stadium sort of the way the Saints rode drafting Bush and bringing in Brees when they re-opened the Superdome.

After the new Arkansas/A&M deal they just signed for that stadium, it sort of makes a little more sense. To have a guy that high profile, from Arkansas, in that new stadium? I think they'd sell a lot of merch and tickets, and we can't forget it's still a business outside of what happens on the field on Sundays.

I'm not saying I do or do not want us to get McFadden, but I can see how it would make sense for the GM/Owner to make a deal like that.

I agree that there are a multitude of angles to look at the situation, but in the end I still think Jerry will see the scenario as too cost prohibitive on too many levels.

Jerry is a business man, but he is a competitor first. I think he has enough business sense to not trade up for McFadden unless McFadden starts to slide. By slide, I mean after 10th. Otherwise his cost to the team and it's future would be to extreme.

I think this angle has been mentioned in every article that suggested Jerry might make a deal for McFadden since the beginning of time.

Jerry needs a winning team for his new stadium, and that means drafting the best players whether they're from Arkansas or Timbuktu. It doesn't matter one bit if they have zero prior connection with Texas or the region.

Jerry doesn't need any single player to sell tickets.

Exactly! The Cowboys have NEVER had trouble selling tickets. We are America's Team afterall.

I dont even think its that deep.

Jerry and maybe Steven WANT McFadden.

I have said all along that I think Jerry DOES THIS DEAL.. somehow. I stand by it until he DOESNT.

I will say... if he does it... Barber better still be here otherwise how much better does a really good DMac make us.... not that much... results-wise.

I agree that I dont see Jerry trading up to #1, maybe #4 with the Raiders if he can snowball Al Davis like Walker did.. Even then I dont see him trading up into the top 10 it will cost to much draft pick wise.. In addition there are many quality backs that we can draft at the end of the 1st round and into the 2nd, I am more interested in trading up for Cromartie he just looks like a special player.

Jerry is not going to sacrifice the future of the team, just to sell tickets for a college game, that will sell anyway.

:horse: :horse: :horse: :horse: Really? Really? There is no possible way we can get mcfadden after the resignings we made this offseason, the cap #'s wont work. Enough is Enough. I am so tired of people thinking there is an inkling of a chance that we get him. I dont even want him, the price would be too high.

Stop with the madness!!!!!
Consider this a vote for no more mcfadden to the cowboys threads

Good luck with that one.

You should take a bubble bath and relax.

Again, I'm not saying Jerry should. I'm saying I can see why he might.

I agree. Jerry explored the possibility of moving up last year for Calvin Johnson and Peterson when he didn't have 2 #1 picks. Also, Jerry said many times he now realizes that moving down for more players when you have a team that is close to or at championship level is not the way to go and that if he had it to do over again, he would have packaged picks to get up in the draft to add another impact player to those teams in the '90s.

I believe Jerry wants to add McFadden to team with Barber for one year while McFadden learns the pro game and see how he adjusts. As for the football side of it, that strategy makes sense for Barber, (limiting his carries) and it makes sense for McFadden. As for the salary cap, Jerry has already discussed the possibilty of an uncapped year and/or the future increase in the cap. I don't think he will let cap issues prevent him from doing whatever it is he decided to do in the draft. McFadden or no McFadden.

Yep, that's what Jethro's about, finding ways to rake in the dollar!

I just dont think it is mathematically possible with the type of money mcfadden would demand.

I do need to relax, i have been dealing with some incredibly inept people this week and had a mini-rant. I apologize.

I just hate it when you think.
Besides, Jerra already has Zach Thomas for the opening of the new stadium. ;)
