Jones was pretty good tonight. Everyone not named Brown was good. Well Scandrick is just coming back. If Heath lets another ball hit him in the hands...Jourdan Lewis is a player but I knew that. Woods made a play or two. These kids are going to be good.

Lewis was impressive tonight. He had no training camp to speak of and had a miserable first outing in Denver when everyone else did too.

Today he was Aces. I like the fearlessness of these kids.

Woods also has potential, and I think Kavon Frazier is solid as well. His presence in the line up does not bother me either.

Byron Jones is still a very young DB who faces a lot of criticism for not being a superstar yet. Expectations are sky high and I think everyone is looking for him to step up and make a Darren Woodson like impact. Its way too soon to make a judgement on him and what kind of player he will be. He is asked to play everywhere and is probably the Cowboys most versatile defender. Perhaps that hurts him, because the Cowboys have him covering everyone and often is somewhere in the mix on the passing play good or bad.

Scandrick isnt awful he just cant catch.

Jones is a big Wr/TE man to man guy who is a liability as a zone FS.

Heath is exposed the more he plays...more value as a Dime and Special teams player.

Brown...not sure about him yet. Seems to be a little desperate out there.

You are spot on with the rookies.
My thoughts exactly.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones moved to CB at some point in the season, once the coaches are comfortable with Woods (or maybe I'n just being hopeful). We do need a replacement for Heath though.

Heath missed two picks today

First one wouldn't of counted, regardless due to PI on Scandrick.

the Second one would of been one hell of a catch due to how low it was thrown when it got near him.

Is he a JAG/replaceable? Sure. However, I don't think either safety have a bad game overall. Woods was solid as well, especially being thrown to corner. Both had bad games last week, but I thought both played better this week.

Didn't really see much that Jones did wrong last night...that 1st td was on Heath, at least that's what it looked like to me on TV. Heath was supposed to have deep zone and bit on an underneath route.

And Fitz is Fitz....He's going to be in the HOF and was #1 in catches last year for a reason. We managed to contain the rest of their speedy WR's and D'd up when it counted. Don't see why there's so much *****ing this morning

No way they're moving Jones to corner. Coaches don't make snap judgements like fans do, thank God. They love his versatility at safety.

Guys need to pump the brakes on Lewis. He was pretty good, tackled well, but was far from perfect. Could be good but isn't it a little early to make any kind of judgement?

Our DBs play way too "hands on" in coverage. That last Cardinals drive was so frustrating with the needless penalties. Never going to close a good team out that way. Very young secondary though, so let's hope they improve as the season goes along.

What good is "versatility" if he can't do some of the functions of a FS?

The only consistent "versatility" he shows is when he locks up man on a slot WR or TE. In other words, when he's essentially playing the CB position. he struggles playing CF, he's a great tackler, he's not a ballhawk, he shows questionable hands..............

Now I tend to agree the coaches won't move him but I think they have a misguided belief that with his athleticism he's going to grow into the FS spot. But it's 3 years now, he hasn't.

They always moved Jones back and forth from safety to corner. Last year Heath would come in and Jones would match up on the TE in man coverage.
In the base formation he is a safety, but they do shift him down when the matchup calls for it. I don't see that changing.

scandrick is awful
Jones is awful
Brown looked awful tonight
Heath is JAG

Woods and Lewis are players. No idea about Awuzie yet.
Actually, Jones played pretty good last night. Had several pass defenses on third down. He's not the problem in the secondary. Heath has been exposed in a few games already.
Scandrick can't cover better than he did on those catches he gave up. Fitzgerald just was a beast. And Scandrick is playing with a broken hand, give him a break.
I had more of an issue with his late interference call in the last minute.

Ok Coach. Y
You guys are awful fans. Watch more football. Brown had a bad game. Damn, sorry the kid isn't solid every game. Sheesh.
I agree. There are so many Negative Nancy's on here. It wasn't pretty but the team fought and got a win on the road. That's not easy to do in the NFL and Brown had a bad game. He's a good player. We get 3 threads of "New Secondary Please or Lawrence got 3 sacks against a horrible O-Line." I know the team hasn't been perfect but some of our fans would complain if their ice cream was cold.
