Very concerning about the bad game from Brown. I have never liked Jones.

Likely most came from defendin the slot or TE at the line.

He ain't a FS

Byron is best suited in the hybrid corner role, covering WRs masquerading as TEs. The league is loaded with them, and Byron can do some things there. Those guys seem to kill us anyway, and some of the best teams rely on the TE mismatch, so let's give Byron that role when we play the teams with the stud TE - KC/Kelce, Philly/Ertz, Seattle/Graham, etc.

Agree he just doesn't have instincts to be a great FS.

What good is "versatility" if he can't do some of the functions of a FS?

The only consistent "versatility" he shows is when he locks up man on a slot WR or TE. In other words, when he's essentially playing the CB position. he struggles playing CF, he's a great tackler, he's not a ballhawk, he shows questionable hands..............

Now I tend to agree the coaches won't move him but I think they have a misguided belief that with his athleticism he's going to grow into the FS spot. But it's 3 years now, he hasn't.

I'm just saying how I think it is, not that I believe it's right. I feel like he's not a ball hawk, much like Scandrick. I want guys who can not only cover a guy, but make a play on the ball once it gets there with the intention of getting an interception.

I thought everybody looked better once they stopped playing that awful zone that the Cards shredded on goose first two drives.

In my opinion, once they got out of that and started pressing, everything changed.
Exactly once they went with the three down linemen and 6 def backs the game changed and they all played pretty good and only allowed I think three points after that.
Heath, I don't think he's that bad and he's only had what three games to play as a semi starter so he like the other rookies needs a chance to grow in the position.

It wasn't thrown right at him genius, learn football. He had a zone and read the play. Don't quote me again

I'll quote whoever I want. I could absolutely not care less if you don't like what I have to say. I can't help it that you picked a scrub to be the biggest fanboy of.

So many people have the misconception that Jones cant play. They dont understand on the majority of those highlights the receiver catching the ball on him is usually not his responsibility. His responsibility is to prevent the YAC... Has he had some sloppy plays? Sure, but so has Lee and everyone else on defense. Jones is the least of our worries.

Jones only has 19 starts at FS.

Many of us... At least the rational among us, posted many times on this board over the course of the offseason that this young secondary is going to take time.

You say a young DB with less than 25 starts in the league is inconsistent? Wow!

So what?

At some point he should be showing improvement. He has not. What he has shown in 19 games is that he's probably a better slot CB than he is a FS. You mentioned 25 games........ are you really expecting the light to come on once the 25th game happens?

Jones has value to this team........ as a slot CB. Not as a FS IMO.

I said it then and I'm say it again, we should've been burning up the phones to Seattle when there were rumors that Sherman was possibly available, even if it cost us Scandrick and a high draft pick. Our CBS would be set for a while and all we'd need is one FS to replace Jones, unless X is going to play there although I think X takes the other S spot. Imagine Brown, Sherman, and Lewis with Chido as a fourth with X and a legit FS....

I thought he played well vs. the Cards.

I'm sorry, I'm not seeing all this Jones hate, he made some key stops tonight.

He also played against Denver despite a groin strain that people conveniently forget.

This was never going to be a perfect stew in the secondary this season from day one, everyone already knew this. But now 3 weeks into the season after some expected struggles and some encouraging signs too btw, these same people now somehow forget this whole thing was going to take some time. There is a lot of selective memory around here at times.

Hard to tell if Scandrick would have come down with or defended a couple of those balls with a healthy hand. He had good position, for sure. Heath is a nightmare as a starter, he needs to be replaced this week.

Hard to tell. He is often in position but doesn't often make the play. I've never been as fond of him as the rest of the world.

scandrick is awful
Jones is awful
Brown looked awful tonight
Heath is JAG

Woods and Lewis are players. No idea about Awuzie yet.

Scandrick is def not awful. He just cant stay healthy. Jones i truly belive is playing out of position. The other 2 are just so so so raw. Its way too early to grade them.
