Not having internet and cable service for a week is getting downright annoying. Nothing to do with weather, but a lot to do with a hardware issue between me and and the nearest patch terminal or something like that.

Anyway, INVEST 92L might head up the east coast in a few days.

Expect her name to be "Katia", hopefully no relation to that ***** Katrina.

We knew something was wrong: There was a hurricane afoot, and you weren't here to provide updates!

Glad it was something fixable with cursing and hardware.

Wish we could see a tenth of that rain....

That trajectory could bode well for the US. Irene's path was much farther south than this one. If the Gulf Stream catches it, it could zip up to the Northwest along the coast and miss the US all-together (we can only hope).

I still have no power and they say I might not get it back today. Mobile service has returned, but the service is extremely shotty. I can receive an email on my phone, but can't web surf. If I *can* get a call to connect, I have to make it quick or it will disconnect.

That storm is a good way out and hard to say how much is will develop or what direction it will take.

You and your family are otherwise okay?

Yep, except for the electronic device withdraws the family is having. :laugh2:

I'm at a server co-location facility right now. I have three mobile phones, two laptops, and an iPad all charging. :lmao2:

People walk past me and giggle. They know whats up. :laugh2:

I can't believe it, we went the entire storm without losing power. It flickered, but never went out. The internet went out for a very small time, like an hour or so.

I live in eastern VA, too.

I have a sister in Virgina Beach. She didn't have any issues really either.

I bet you weather fans have seen this site, but I just found it the other day... if you click on "more" on the right side of the top menu and then "storm archive", you can go back and look at almost every hurricane and tropical storm of the past. They have tracks with wind speed, barometric pressure, etc. all along the way... Pretty cool.

Turns out it was weather related, just not Irene weather related. The main junction box is far enough away from my back wall that the cracks in the ground popped the cable in between the box and the casa. So I lost my cable for a week to the drought. Time Warner had to come in and lay a new one today. Not even my fault, since it popped in someone else's yard.

FWIW, this storm made Tropical Depression status today. The tracks still have her with a bull's eye on the east coast south of Virginia.

Girrrlll, we need that rain... It's unbelievably dry all over the state of Texas and the heat is unbearable.

We can take the wind that comes with that rain.

This thing should be TS Lee by the morning.

Models have no real idea what's going to happen with it, other than screw up a lot of folk's Labor Day plans on the coast. GOM oil rigs are already being evacuated.

There is a TON of heat laying at the surface of the GOM right now, and Lee could build up in a hurry. Dad was a little over 110 nm out two weeks ago on a bill fish trip and said jumping in was like a jacuzzi.
