Another Year, Same Exact Garbage

The way I see it, our defense is already better than it was when the season ended. Had we had a mediocre defense last year, we would have made a deep run into the playoffs.

We had the 32nd ranked defense last year. We're already better and that's before the draft and June 1st cuts.

come on, you guys act like its the 90s.

If Parker is having a say in these trades, good. Who here expects him to turn it around in one season? thats silliness. at least be realistic. we arent doing anything next season. Now whatever happens, theres 2 things we re watching for. Did Jerry punk the fans again or are the coaches putting in their systems, their players and their culture.

There is upset with Jerry, not many know that better than me. But if the HC and DC are making these trades, wanting these players, thats good news regardless who we get.

I get what you're saying, but the GM is in charge of roster building. It is Jerr's responsibility, his primary one at that, to field a championship caliber team. I think part of the problem is that Jerry does all this talking (i.e., "I can see us being aggressive in free agency this year"; "busting the budget"; etc., etc., etc.) and then does not follow through on what he says.

More time has been spent restructuring contracts than "breaking the bank". As much as the Gary trade was a good sign, and Thompson was a potential descent follow-up, Jerry suckered most of you into thinking things would be different. All the talk about we have no cap issues, blah blah blah....Our LB issues will not be solved in the draft, and we still have issues if the D still wants to rely upon Eze and Overshown. Again, I state that if Jerry would stop being a snake-oil salesman and do his job quietly, nobody would have any issues with what we have/haven't done. Hook, line, and sinker

Jerry doesn’t care about winning. His only goal is $. Winning the Forbes List is his Super Bowl. So he builds a good offense because offense sells tickets, and ignores the defense except for some reactionary moves to keep them moderately competitive. A 7-10 season with an explosive, fun offense is a success in his whisky addled mind. Alas.

All this talk about signing big name free agents and spending big money is a complete lie yet again. It’s actually amazing how every single year we have to deal with this.

It’s the same playbook as always - a complete head scratching trade and signing a bunch of mid to low tier guys. Our biggest signing, Gary, arguably isn’t even an improvement over Clowney and is not cheap whatsoever. I mean you could have spent just a bit more (and not given up a 4th) and got Hendrickson. GB couldn’t wait to get rid of Gary, I couldn’t even imagine how they could contain themselves when Dallas called to offer a 4th lol.

I don’t see how we have improved our defense. People thinking that a new D Coordinator alone is going to do much for the defense are delusional. I’m not sure how fans are happy about free agency so far? Very few draft picks and almost forced to take LB now. Better hit home runs on both first round picks.
It's the same thing every year, of course. They always do the same thing, trying to show they're finally going to invest, and they start making regular signings, and people think a big signing might come, but it always ends up the same way, watching other teams sign the best players. And that's how they sell the fans a pig in a poke. And we see players not wanting to come to Dallas, like Nakobe Dean, because the reality is the team is just a circus run by arrogant owners who only care about having the most expensive team in the world, while the naive fans keep thinking that this time it's really happening, and they tell that old geezer Jones, "Here's my money, keep deceiving me." If you look at the history of at least the last 20 Super Bowls, there isn't a single team that has won a Super Bowl with their quarterback being the highest paid or with a top salary, not even Tom Brady. What does that tell us? Having a quarterback with great stats or being the highest paid isn't a guarantee of winning a Super Bowl, as a balanced team is required, not a self-absorbed quarterback. The Joneses made this mistake, and I don't think the Cowboys have a chance at winning a Super Bowl as long as Dak Jones is there, not because of Dak Jones, but because of his salary. We saw it with Tony Romo; the same story repeats itself. Most Super Bowl winners have won them as rookies or as second- and third-chance quarterbacks with lower salaries, because this allows for investment in other areas. Dallas has already fallen into a deep hole, trying to climb out but digging themselves deeper.

So when this defense improves from bottom to say 15th this year, and the offense is top 5 and the team is a playoff contender- are you guys that are whining going to be happy?

You cant grab a bunch of probowl players all at once, has to be a balance of starters backups with upside and draft picks - we've have done some good thinga and are positioned to be a better team.

Hard to see the defense improve when the worst area of it from last season hasnt been addressed. As of right now.

Of course though, you will say a definitive thing like this when they havent addressed the biggest problem.

Let me guess.

You are impressed with everything so far right?

I know you dont understand what a LB is, but how do you think that position looks right now?

Jerry is a genius though, just about every year how many buy into the drivel he spouts? This year with Crosby and making an offer they probably knew would not be enough they got alot of people thinking things were actually changing.

When they miss the playoffs for the 3rd straight year are you going to pick them to win 10+ games for the 4th straight year?

And if they dont, you gonna post an apology?

I try to stay as positive as possible. We did add a couple decent players. But we really whiffed on LB and CB. Does anyone feel good about the status of the corners on our team. As of right now, Reddy Steward is a starter on defense in the nickel.

It is very frustrating that in day 2 that we added a bunch of castoffs that probably have as much chance of making the roster as they do of being cut. The money used on Locke, Williams, the DT could have been used to sign one of the LBs. They could be replaced in August with cuts, street free agents or undrafted free agents. Makes no sense.

They missed big on LB, Stephen Jones is operates like a coward

You have one big moneymaker on offense, now you need one on defense.
