All this talk about signing big name free agents and spending big money is a complete lie yet again. It’s actually amazing how every single year we have to deal with this.

It’s the same playbook as always - a complete head scratching trade and signing a bunch of mid to low tier guys. Our biggest signing, Gary, arguably isn’t even an improvement over Clowney and is not cheap whatsoever. I mean you could have spent just a bit more (and not given up a 4th) and got Hendrickson. GB couldn’t wait to get rid of Gary, I couldn’t even imagine how they could contain themselves when Dallas called to offer a 4th lol.

I don’t see how we have improved our defense. People thinking that a new D Coordinator alone is going to do much for the defense are delusional. I’m not sure how fans are happy about free agency so far? Very few draft picks and almost forced to take LB now. Better hit home runs on both first round picks.

:hammer:...Couldn't be more disappointed

They operate like the 7-10, not won a thing in 30 years, team that they are.

It’s time to accept that.

I think fans that buy tickets to Cowboys games should get a nice pat on the head from Jerry with every purchase.
I'd require Jerry wear a glove before he was allowed to touch me. Don't know where or in what that hand has been in.

I mostly agree. But the Gary trade made a lof sense bc of his contract relative to what free agent DE's are getting paid. So, by giving up a 4th, we got to keep his contract in tact and not have to bid against other teams on the open market after GB released him.......... even he thought he was being released and said so on his twitter account. He quickly erased it after the trade and claimed someone hacked him. BS.

The problem is , based on recent statements coming out of the FO, we think we are good to go at DE. We missed on Crosby and pivoted to Gary. But they aren't even in the same ballpark.

We also missed the entire market at LB. Not entirely our fault as Dean apparently simply preferred Las Vegas , but still.............more aggression required. So, unless we pull off an out of character trade, we are going into the year with Overshown, some rookies, and whoever they pick up on the cheap at LB.

Good news is that it would be not to improve on last years defense.

Spent a “bit more” on Hendrickson?

LOL.

I get some frustration, but don’t overreact: Thompson is a big name free agent (for a strong safety), and the others so far are at least good depth gets. All reports indicate they were actually in the mix for bigger names, which they never usually are.

I’m not saying they couldn’t have done better (it’s particularly perplexing to me that they couldn’t have offered $15m apy to Lloyd). However, let’s get it right: it’s not like they haven’t done anything, and it’s not like they haven’t spent more than usual.

So far, I agree.

My thing is they go conservative until pushed into a corner.

Trading for Gary was the easy out. Dude was going to not be a Packers player by today, so Dallas waved a 27 4th to acquire him and that was that.

They rather have Gary at a 18mil cap hit than get aggressive in the FA market. I get not wanting to go to two 1st's for Crosby, but they also once again set boundaries in the sand on LB and saw their top guys go elsewhere.

I think Gary is a solid player, but he's also someone who I don't think is an impact player. Sort of like Kenny Clark from last year. Solid, but they aren't the same player from their mid 20's. Vs the Ravens, he only played 45% of the teams defensive snaps, and Van Ness and Enagbare, and that was after Parsons ACL left the chat. And even before Gary was traded, some Packers fans were questioning his effort/watching him job while others were still running

They are once again making it dead obvious what positions they need to hit on in the first round. Corner is still a huge question mark. Linebacker is depleted and void of starting talent outside of the Injury Man.

I think a lot of fans have just accepted a mediocre return from the Cowboys year to year. Long as Jerry is the GM nothing is going to change.

Some fans are rather delusional when it comes to this stuff. 32 teams think that Hendrickson costs too much, given the particulars. 32 teams. Because if he was all that he would've been the first guy off the shelf in all this. As it is he's still sitting pretty by himself.

What big name agent did you want them to sign?

All talk and no action....you hate everything about this team, yet you're always on top of their every move.....amd your cult hangs on every word. I know you don't want a pat on top of the head, from Jerry, it's the pat on back of the head that you get.....but, thanks for your opinion, it shows that you still hold out hope, like everyone else in here.

You don't think Gary improves our defense? Thompson is a prefect match for the robber position (whatever it's called). Gary's contract is 20M pre and would have been higher if gone to FA. Thompson is 11-13Mcoaches are raving about him. They were in the running for Crosby till Ravens went insane.
LB is the position they missed on but in their scheme safety is more vital
