Anthony Brown ran a 4.35?

As far as late round draft picks go can't have this discussion without mentioning that QB up in New England, he's pretty good I hear.

He's already better player and especially a better tackler than Scandrick has ever been.

He started getting a lot of attention after his pro day, I remember that. Big, athletic guy who could run like the dickens.

He's a good fit for a Marinelli D. Fast, physical, and almost most importantly, can tackle

G, so what happens when OScan comes back? Brown has been killing it in the slot and we saw how OScan was playing before he went out?

He hasn't really done anything yet, no hate. He's playing good but I see a lot of overreacting in here. I like his tackling a lot though.

With all due respect, Guru, I disagree -- He has great closing speed to the gap and has erased flat routes from his mid-field positioning. He's a very physical DB with great-to-elite closing speed and a sure tackler... all part of being a great slot corner. You also contradict yourself in the same post, but that's neither here nor there.

He isn't being evaluated as an outside corner, Guru.

He has done a fanstatic job, much better than 2016 OScan (and almost as good as 2014 OScan, but for different reasons).

I did not know that. I knew he was physical but I didn't know he was also this fast. I was worried about our secondary vs the likes of D-Jax, OBJ, Aug Jeffers, Jordy, and other stud receivers on our schedule. We haven't given up a 100-yard receiver yet. AB is a big reason. Now I see why. He's physical: 5'11/192lbs and he's fast: 4.35 forty. Great great draft pick who will only get better with experience.

You have to be fast to run that 40. 40s don't always translate completely to the field though. One can train to optimize one's 40. Remember Murray ran a 4.3x and that didn't reflect to that kind of speed on the field. I think Brown IS fast. But I don't see Deion or Darrell Green speed. Putting on football shoes and a uniform slows most anyone.

Also, there is quickness to be added to the equation for DBs. Heath runs on top end as fast as anyone on the field to the best of my knowledge. I've seen him outrun Scandrick whom is a fast player with pretty good quicks. Heath is a very good cover safety though. He's just fast in the 100.

PS: I liked your post as it was relatively new discussion to add to the site. And I agree he can tackle which is an absolute must for a DB particularly in this defensive scheme. I like the player and I'm looking forward to seeing how the next three years unfold for him and the team.

We play the nickel and dime a great deal so he'll get his snaps. And people are often dinged so it's nice to have an extra player or so.

Thanks, Doc. What about when we're lined up against a traditional 3 WR set? Does Brown go back to the sideline?

Excellent tackler. Excellent.

AB will replace Carr as the full-time starter next year. Mo/AB with O-Scan in the slot Church/Jones as or safeties is my guess.

Looks very, very nice, Pete.

But I also wouldn't mind it if we retained Carr on the cheap (2-3m aav) to stay on the squad. But start the players you listed :) keep Carr for (edit) Nickel formations

I guess it depends on the definition of "sticking". If it means hanging around and playing special teams for a few years, you might be right.

It's not out of the ordinary to find a starting CB in the 4th-7th rounds. It's just that you guys like to live in this fantasy land where they are critical and always drafted immediately.

We live in a land where we have drafted horribly in the latter rounds, and are giddy about a potential hit. You, yourself, have been critical of our club's drafting in this area of the draft.

Respectfully, Risen.

You'd have to answer that question in context of down and distance as well as game situation. There are too many variables to answer that without a lot of game situation data as well as pregame looks at their offense.

In general on first and ten, close score, getting decent pressure, playing pass and run well, you going to see 2 safeties, 2 CBs and 1 slot DB.

Cowboys draft Ramsey. Are we 5-1?

Ramsey has the potential to be a 10 year shutdown corner. Whether we'd be 5-1 or not really doesn't matter here. 2016 isn't the final year of football and Zeke and Ramsey aren't retiring after this year. They are rookies.

Give me a corner who can lock down one side of the field ANY DAY over an RB. Yes, I'd take a rocky or losing season if it means we get a shut down corner.
