In Sporting News Brent Celek of the Eagles ske who is the toughtest opponent to go against and his comment was there are two- Spencer and Ware. They are very good and come at you hard on every play. They are not dirty but play hard.

It seems like other players admire Spencer more than the fans.

coming out of college everyone of the big 10 tackles said Spencer was the toughest opponent to face.

idk why i am always so underwhelmed by his performance.

Nah...we suck. None of our players can tackle. They're all soft. I read it here. 0-16.

I'll always remember during the 2nd Commanders game last year. They had just run the ball all over the Bucs (mostly on runs to the outside) in the game prior but against us they kept all the runs to the inside.

And Moose said on the broadcast that the skins didn't feel they could get to the outside on us because of the respect they had for our 2 OLBs. And that was during a season where "get rid of Spencer" was a common sentiment.

I'm sure he is a handful for TEs to handle.

Now ask the QBs who is the toughest to face. I don't know that many have ever met Spencer.

I laughed.

Yes, Spencer leads the league is almost sacks every year.

Not only that, we're going to have the 33rd ranked defense and we only have 2 plays in the playbook - run or pass.

1-17. We will own the bye week.

Typical responses from the fanboys who wanna oversimplify the argument and muddy the waters.

Most fans that I've read agree that Spencer is a good player; very tough against the run, solid in coverage, but leaves something to be desired as a pass rusher.

Folks want to see more out of him when given the opportunity to rush passer.

most fans can only quantify a players worth based on stats. because he doesnt get double digit sacks then he must suck . makes sense ;)

And who said any of that?

Do I really need to quote all of the retards posting in the defense ranking thread?

Lmao....I haven't oversimplified ****.

I would actually agree with your assessment above. So am I still a fanboy? Or does the simple fact that I call out crybaby defeatists from another thread make me one regardless?

Ignore that. That's homer 101 response for any real criticism of the team.

Ironically derived directly from crybaby 101 posts. I've got plenty of criticism for this team. It's readily available in my post history. You assuming I don't is just as lazy as the defeatists you're defending.

Yeah...QB pressures. I hate 'em too.

Spencer is a good player. He will be even better once he starts converting all those pressures into some sacks. Which will happen.

I want to see him play this year for Ryan, and then if he still can't get to the QB, I will agree with that.

What's sad is about 80% of the new threads that are started in here are all about how the Cowboys either suck or pointing out that this guy or that guy sucks and how we have no chance whatsoever once the season starts. This is simply a rebuilding year... yada.. yada... yada.

And I thought this place was negative when there was nothing to discuss but the Lockout. Now we have football and it's about the same. :banghead:

It's no longer cool to enjoy football or even root for your own team.

Hard to argue with. He had one excellent season that people understandably still pine away for.

He didn't even have an excellent season....he had an excellent 6-8 game stretch....much of that attributed to his sack explosion.

He's been fairly consistent outside of that.....he gets decent pressure, although not overwhelming. He's a solid player, and one that coaches and players have far more respect for than some clueless fans. He certainly isn't a major reason our defense is underperforming IMO.

He isn't, and likely never will be, a highlight reel player....and thusly will always be a target for our fans.
