How do I get this nasty virus (spyware) off my mother's computer?

By the way, she has Norton's Antivirus Corporate Edition and it didn't catch this virus (Av360).

Oh, for those that don't know, av360 (antivirus 360) isn't an antivirus at all. It's actually a VIRUS pretending to be an antivirus.

Cool. I found a few sites that had fixes, but wasn't sure which ones were trustworthy. :D

I have used it numerous times and it works every time.

It didn't work. I double clicked it, then clicked "Run" and it appears to shut down right after trying to start.

Have you used it for AV360 before?

Yes, that's how I found it. When I searched for how to remove av360 it was recommended. Make sure you run the updates then start the machine in safe mode and run a full scan.

when you open your internet explorer make sure you do it without add on's
my son had it AV360 on his pc on monday and took me a day to get it off the virus blocks the downloads unless (for me) I opened IE without add on's then it downloaded fine.. hope that helps btw if your using vista it's

Start, all programs, accessiories, system tools is where you find the option to open IE with no add on's

System restore isn't working either.

just a quick fyi, you may want to turn off your system restore when you do the scan, some virsus (not sure about av360) will copy themselves into the restore and you clean your pc and somehow (not sure how they work) but can reinfect the pc from the file it copied into your restore points... Just a thought...

interesting, have you tried opening IE without add on's and running a online scan such as trendmicro house call? it may be able to find and remove it, that way you don't actually download anything

Install firefox, if you can, and try to download it. Or download it on a different pc and put the file on a usb drive.

Ok, this virus is even messing with stuff in safe mode.

I googled "Trendmicro house call" and got some results. I clicked the first one and it took me to a site other then trendmicro's site. Closed that window, clicked it again and it took me to a new site that still wasn't trendmicro's site.

Tried typing in the address bar (trendmicro.com) and it STILL wouldn't take me to the site.

This freakin' virus is dug in.

I just tested this one this computer (not infected) and it took me straight to trendmicro's site, no problem.

Amazing, even in safe mode that virus is in control.

if you can google than download the free version of Superantispyware do so. scan and i'm sure it will find it than click next to remove it. it should say it will now restart your computer and you should be back to normal. a guy I know who is a computer tech. said superantispyware is the best anti spyware program he's ever seen.

Just tried this. The first two links Google found, the virus wouldn't let me click them. It kept sending me to some other random page.

The third link (or 4th) it did work. Downloaded it. But it "Encountered an error" and it wouldn't run.

This is a really really nasty virus.
