Antonio Anderson

wow, I was thinking the other day about how much I liked him - didn't he go to the Browns in the expansion draft?

that was back when Jerry was trying to compare every diamond in the rough to a successful player.

Anderson was Leon Lett.

Macey Brooks was TO.

Could've been a good one.

Discuss.

Funny you mention him, they just showed him on the Follies on NFL Network. He was having a hard time taking off his uniform.

His shining moment in the NFL.

Anderson and Shante Carver. Didn't they dominate the East for years and years?

If I remember correctly, his main knock, coming out of college, was that he played with a high pad level. He had good size and strength, but he would always lose leverage to smaller/weaker players because he couldn't maintain the proper form. He never was able to correct this flaw, and it pretty much doomed his career.

I don't even recall who this player is...so I guess that tells me what kind of career he had.

Why can't I remember this Anderson guy.

Macey Brooks I do remember. He was one of those potential guys, great size/speed ratio. I remember Troy raving about his potential one training camp and I remember getting all excited. He was our Randal Williams before Randal ever put on the Cowboys uni. :bang2:

I do remember Brooks. Mainly cause, at that time, my parents had me a subscription to Dallas Cowboys Weekly and I remember reading about him in there a few times on articles.

Man I wish I still got that. :)

Why is there a thread about him anyway? Kinda random, no?

I saw that too. That's what jogged my memory and inspired this thread.

AA looked very strong in the '97 opener vs the Steelers, but like the rest of the team he fell off fast.

Macey Brooks was 6'5" @ 215lbs and if I remember correctly had very good speed. Unfortunately his production on the practice field never translated to gameday. A James Whalen type.

One in a long line of Baseball players the Boys drafted or traded for from the mid 90's to early 2000's. None became a player.

I covered the '97 camp, and I can tell you Anderson looked dominant. Darren Benson, too. Neither amounted to a thing.

Which is sadly the tale of the vast majority of players who are drafted to the NFL, not just to Dallas.
