Macey Brooks was 6'5" @ 215lbs and if I remember correctly had very good speed. Unfortunately his production on the practice field never translated to gameday. A James Whalen type.

Yes, but he suffered from "testicular torsion" in TC and that is why he lost his spot.

Say it with me folks. "Testicular torsion" - loved reading about that one.

I covered the '97 camp, and I can tell you Anderson looked dominant. Darren Benson, too. Neither amounted to a thing.

of course, they were dominating George Hegamin, Tony Hutson, and Steve Scrifes.

What the heck is that injury even? Is that like a tear down there or a lack there of down there or what?

According to Wiki:

In testicular torsion the spermatic cord that provides the blood supply to a testicle is twisted, cutting off the blood supply, often causing orchalgia. Prolonged testicular torsion will result in the death of the testicle and surrounding tissues.

I do remember Brooks. Mainly cause, at that time, my parents had me a subscription to Dallas Cowboys Weekly and I remember reading about him in there a few times on articles.

Man I wish I still got that. :)

Macey went to college down at JMU, about 20 minutes from my house... I remember his time with the Cowboys mostly for his bout with testicular torsion...

Yeeeeeowtch... just typing those words makes me wince...

They also probably took Michael Baptiste to the woodshed a couple of times that summer, along with Shane Hannah after he unretired for a few days.

Let's throw MarTay Jenkins from the legendary Nebraska-Omaha into the discussion. He actually had a few catches for the Cardinals after he left us.

I still can't believe that Benson quit football to tar roofs with the old man for a while.

I remember Antonio Anderson well. Syracuse I believe. He had "THE LOOK" of a dominant D lineman, just never panned out. Shame.

Didn't we lose Anderson to Clevaland in the supplemental draft?

dont forget to include Shane Hannah and every other NFL bust.
The difference is that Hannah never showed a thing, whereas Anderson looked good his rookie year.

Hannah was a piece of the worst draft by any team ever: the 1995 draft.

I just googled Hannah and discovered something that I'd never put together: the Cowboys traded out of the 28th overall spot for two 2nd rounders, which we used to select Sherman Williams and Hannah. The player taken with the 28th pick? Derrick Brooks.

I had high hopes for him as well. He got a sack against Kordell Stewart on his very first NFL play and I dont think he ever got another. A Percy Howard type.
