I'ld rather sign Jerry Rice out of retirement.

Shoot, I'd sign Jerry out of retirement to be a wideout coach or something, just don't bring back AB.

This guy is as stupid as ********(pick your own adjective). He would still be sitting on the bench complaining to whoever would listen.

Talent without discipline. Will Bryant ever achieve anything significant in football? Doubtful.

Well...I have ceded this as a wildly unpopular idea, but my thoughts on it in practice would be that he would be a 40-50 catch #2 WR, but a real option Romo could hit in crunch time --- situations where TO seems to wilt and drops a number of passes and where Glenn isn't a real playmaker.

I was envisioning this idea as a 1-3 year thing (we will need new receivers then anyway) with the potential to be a long term thing if AB straightened up with age.

I see that Bryant followed up a decent year in SF with some trouble with the law (Per Wikipedia --- "Following a victory over the Seattle Seahawks on November 19, 2006, Bryant was arrested after his Lamborghini was seen speeding faster than 100 mph on Highway 101. He was charged with suspicion of misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest. As a result, Bryant was suspended for four games by the NFL. He sat out the final two games of the 2006 season, and was scheduled to sit out the first two games of the 2007 season.") and was cut.

While we are not hurting at WR, I wouldn't mind a return of AB if he is available. As I recall he was run out of town by Parcells --- would Jerry be interestedin a reunion? I recognize that we have some promising backups, but AB had a knack for making the big plays when we needed them. IMO he was just not 1st receiver caliber. Next to TO, that really works. TO is a huge threat who doesn't deliver when needed. TO would draw a double team, putting AB in single coverage against a team's #2 allowing AB to deliver a lot more. Plus, with TO and AB starting, Terry Glenn would be free to abuse 3rd CBs.

I don't know. I really didn't pay a lot of attention to the team while we were being coached by the Giant's coach. Please let me know what AB did that has this much bitterness in the air.

You obviously haven't been paying attention longer then that since AB's issues began while he was at Pitt which is why he dropped in the draft.

From there he has continued to provide consistent whining, inconsistency, attitude to every team he has been on.

Not only was he cut from SF because of his most recent even with the law, but because he was a cancer to the growth of their qb Smith. If you recall, he screamed on him on a regular basis whether or not he ran the wrong route or not.

For all the flack the Boys have gotten for signing TO and his issues, you want to add another volitile wr who is 1/4 the talent of a TO for what? To say you have another wr on the roster who is talented?

A team isn't just about talent, but how players mesh together to form a cohesive successful unit. Examples of this are in every sport (i.e. George, qb; I. Rider, nba; etc).

So... for the last time, it would not be a good idea to add AB, another player, to the team who will require extensive time to be spent to make sure he acts like an adult. The Boys already have one of those... and thank goodness, he seems to have started to get the point.

I liked Bryants ability, I think Sam Hurd is a carbon copy player without the attitude.

Finite, your thought wasn't awful, but the evidence speaks against him succeeding. Dallas, Cleveland , and SF all failed to get him to wake up. He is currently under suspension by the NFL (two games left). I don't believe he is worth a roster spot with his past and the baggage he carries.

What a statement... :laugh2:

With your rationale, maybe we should bring in Michael Jackson to camp to see if we can fit him in at the #2 instead of AB, he might help us out.... .:beatit:

He obviously has some issues. I wouldn't want him back. I doubt he wants back here. He wouldn't be a starter or even number three.

Besides someone would have to go. Who would Jerry release? Would that hurt the club? Would AB hurt the club? You'd have to answer those questions before you could think about it.

IMO it's not worth thinking about.

BTW as an aside these kids don't know what they're throwing away. They could get so many job opportunities after football but these antics destroy that. Wait, I forgot. They can write a book. People love to read about that nonsense. Misery sells better than happiness.

No actually. I was quite aware of his issues in college. In the pros, all I knew that he had done was being a loudmouth and the drunk driving incident --- certainly not enough to cause this level of disdain for him by cowboy fans. Now that I know the details behind his exit from Dallas, I can understand fans not wanting him here.

The Cleveland Browns and 49ers decided he's not worth the headaches, and those are two of the most talent starved teams in the league. What does that tell you?

I'm not against giving 2nd chances, but going all the way back to college this guy is now working on his 35th chance.

The girls just got their panties in a bunch is all. The only thing I saw AB do was get railroaded by 2 of "Parcell's Guys" (Keyshawn & Terry signings) and suddenly have to take a back seat to a job he felt he had earned, 2 years in a row. I think people were just so concerned back then to just "drinking the koolaid" that it got majorly blown out of preportion and it still is to this day. Basically, he was run out of town. Especially that second year when Keyshawn joined us. The guy was fighting an uphill battle at that point and was no way going to win the graces of Big Bill. Just another case of a good homegrown player that the "Giant's Coach" quickly ran out of town. He was making a lot of haste decisions those first 2 years, and imo not really thinking things through thuroughly- Bryant was just one of them.

I like your idea. And I can't believe more aren't for it when so many are preaching left 'n right across this board about giving JuJo another chance since Parcells is gone, or this guy or that guy. Well imo, AB was one of them "altered" by Parcells presence and deserves another chance just as much as the next guy. If we can handle a TO, what the hell is an AB in the grand scheme of things?
