There are reasons why players are released. Usually big ones.
My wish, mate, is that from now on, Sir Jerry and his pack of clueless assistants, resist the urge to claim retreads who at one point happened to be big names.
Also, while we are at it, players with talent who have trouble pasts, because those troubles always seem to come back and with a vengeance.

I say, draft for talents AND character, much like old man Landry use to, though sometimes his players turned out to be head cases after being drafted.

A lot of times it's because a player isn't living up to their contract and you can save cap space by moving on. The Jets are going to have a much bigger QB contract on the books than they did this time last season assuming they retain Fitzpatrick.

I'm not saying he is a number one guy but I am for it if it's a short term deal. I want a mix of a couple savy vets and some youth.

That type of mix you mention has a lot of validity and is common sense. In a sane world, common sense would be the rule in the FO and not the exception, good lad.

It's a salary cap casualty. Report is they may sign him back on a reduced deal so that's how bad he is.

No picks in 15 games... he's bad... he's so bad, he's almost Brandon Carr-bad...lol

Only two less than Richard Sherman did in 16 games or Deion Sanders did a couple years with us. Byron Maxwell had as many interceptions as Sherman last year, does that mean they are in the same class? It must be since Carr and Cromartie are in the same class with zero.

I'm not going to sit here and act like I watch a ton of Jets football, maybe you do. I do know that interceptions are such a small sample of how we should judge corners. It's the only easily trackable stat but you can be a really bad corner and have a half dozen interceptions In a year, you can be all pro with 1-2. Cromartie has a history of causing turnovers though, much more than Carr.

My first comment regarding Cromartie was just some light-hearted banter... I'm sure you're not seriously putting him in the same class as Deion and Sherman... Maxwell is terrible.
Mostly, I just wouldn't go after a 32 yr old corner in free agency.... now, safety is a different matter altogether... would love to see Weddle come to Dallas.

Oddly enough, I did watch a lot of Jets games last year... loved to watch Ryan Fitzpatrick... also, they have an awesome front seven... Muhammad Wilkerson is a beast.
