Any chance Demetrius Bell could see time at guard

Why not give him a look at guard. I don't see the harm in it. Leonard Davis made the switch about the same time in his career as Bell and succeeded for a good 4 years there. Why not give it a shot.

I could see them trying him there if they keep him; however, I doubt if they make the move in the preseason.

Possible I suppose, but I think he needs to get in shape before they even think about working him in at another position.

Leonard worked at guard because he was such a powerful guy and a mauler. I dont know that Bell has the same strength, and I dont know that he has the feet to be a good interior blocker in a ZBS.

From what Bell has said it sounds like he has his hands full playing RT instead of the left side which he is used to. He has enough to master at this point. He has worked hard to get in shape and my guess is there is more of a chance of seeing him overtake Parnell as the back-up with Parnell getting cut. Let's see how he looks the next two games.

And Leonard Davis had more talent.

Some seem to think Bigg was a "car-wreck" at OT and he wasn't. He wasn't as good as his draft grade but he was more than a serviceable OT. Bell has been a "car-wreck" at OT. Last year he was far worse than Doug Free ever thought of being.

I doubt Bell has the talent to make it a guard.

FYI on Bell's weight:

At the combine in 2008: 303 (Height 6-5).

When he joined the Cowboys: 350

Now: 328

Last year (listed): 311

I've reviewed his play from last year on the Coaches Film. He didn't appear to have slow feet. His issue was terrible technique and lack of awareness.

He did look sluggish in the Cowboys-Cardinals game, but he is still 15 lbs over last years playing weight.

I don't see why we couldn't give it a chance. If he is any worse than the horrible hopefuls, just move him back.

Why waste the time doing it?

He's not going to be better than Leary, Bern, Arkin and Livings at guard.

And I have my doubts that he's better than Kowalski.

But really you aren't going to see more than 4 guards carried on the roster any way.

I'm not sure they'll keep him as a 4th tackle.

how is going to play Tackle anymore if his feet are too slow?

That was your typical garbage response from Broaddus. If you have ever had the feet to play OT, you've had good enough feet to play OG.

How do you know he can't be any better than those 4.........in my mind I don't see how he could be any worse than all of them minus Leary.

Thank you!!!

Bernadeau has been decent this preseason, Arkin has been what we thought he was (weak) and Kevin K and Livings have been what we thought they were (always injured). how is it wasting time when the guards who's reps he'd be taking right now, have no shot at making the team...hello! NO risk, high reward.

I don't know if he can or can't, but I just don't think he's good enough. If he has a role on this team, it's as a swing tackle, and I like a younger, higher upside Parnell much, much more.
