Since we are out of the playoffs.........

and we dont have a 1st round pick to discuss......

any chance we sign anybody of significance in FA???

At least that would give us a little hope for 09 if Cupcake and Coach Tecmo are coming back for a do-over.

Man, it is going to suck if basically sit here for 9 months with the same players and same coaches.

During the early part of the season there was a rumor that Julius Peppers wanted to play here.

Other than him, I really don't see anyone worth pursuing really hard. Maybe an ILB to replace Zach Thomas since he says he is leaving. I think Carpenter and Burnett might fight for that job though.

I'm sure Jerry will sign someone thinking "if only we had this guy everything would be alright". :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

He just doesn't get it! :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

All that aside, I don't think we should pursue any big name FAs this offseason. We have good starters at pretty much every position but lack quality backups at OL, QB, & S so those are the areas I would target in FA.

Jerry needs to stop trying so hard to hit a homerun and just get hits. he keeps striking out!

Carpenter might actually fight for something? Now that's more heart than I've seen from him so far.

I'd LOVE to have Peppers here but I don't think he would fit well in a 3-4.

If Carpenter is still on this team come training camp I'm going to puke.

We need some JAG's.

No team can have a probowler at every position.

I want solid players, guys who won't whine and complain about their role or about how often they get the ball, just players. No thugs, no primadonnas, no egos, no project players, no converted baseball players, no wimps, and no big mouths. Just shut up and play the game and enjoy your paycheck that is a heck of a lot more than you would ever get in a job outside of football.

Burnett is a decent player and more so on passing downs. his problem is he's a broken down golf cart by the end of camp and during some point in the middle of the season. He also requires a new contract that we will not pay much to inherit, doubt he's with us next season.

Barbie Carpenter is a puke and needs to be gone from this roster.

Karlos Dansby would cost money but would be a very good young ILB in our 34. Was franchised by Arizona last year, maybe they resign him or get dispicable and franchise him again. I think this is a helpful FA if they let him get loose. Tampa's safety Phillips would also be a useful player if Henry and RW no longer play for this team.

In regards to Julius Peppers we'd need to go to a 43 and he'd command an arm and a leg that Jerry will not pay this year knowing he has to sign Ware to a new offer. Rather go after Dansby, get a real NT so Ratliff can play DE and ravage and put a real coach like Shanny at the helm.

I'd have the utter most confidence in this team with decision like that made. I don't make the big bucks to be a GM but this is financially plausible and would make a huge difference around here. We won't get a Ray Lewis or Ed Reed because Baltimore won't let the core of that franchise go. Those are 2 leaders that would take this team to the next level and be the presence needed other than the HC.

Lewis would probably kill Owens by week 8 but that won't matter since he'll never be silver and blue.

We'll probably bring in some cheap JAGs ... probably at LG, Safety, and some backup spots.

I really do hope we bring in some depth. We can use a set of Kyle Kosiers all across the OL.

Peppers would be freaking sweet!!!!!!

No chance in hell that Carolina lets him walk however, he will be franchised for sure.

How about Haynesworth fellas, Tennessee cant franchise him since he made the probowl, it was in his contract he signed last year.

Is he big enough to play NT and move Ratliff to DE???

Lets consult Gurode on Haynesworth.

Big is usually requested at NT because it helps be effective at the position. Haynesworth is 6'6 and 320 lbs. Definitely big enough but he is a freakishly dominating force that can single handedly collapse a pocket even when constantly being double teamed.

In regards to him being available it will never happen. Tennessee won't let him go and they are already negotiating with him. We have enough pressure and will have more once Ratliff goes to DE. We don't need Peppers. ILB is more important and it would be perfect if a Ray Lewis could come here but he won't get out either. Perfect for his leadership, intensity, don't bend or break will and football smarts. Bradie James is coming along though and other than Witten was the only player that looked ready to make a difference against Philly. First time Bradie James really impressed me actually. So in that regard a big mobile ILB with playmaking and youth like Karlos Dansby would fullfill my appetite.

NT, ILB, a reliable strong or free safety whether on the team already or not and o-line depth are this teams player personnel needs. If Canty doesn't get re-signed DE depth even if Ratliff moves over. None are worth cutting our rists for like getting a real HC though, lol!

Even though his head got stomped on he'd say sign him. In regards to consulting Gurode I may start thinking about moving him to LG and looking for a leader at center who can hold this line accountable and snap consistently. Kosier and Holland would be tremendous back ups and I would only look to drat or sign a FA backup swing tackle.

Gurode is a heck of a blocker at either guard or center just a mess snapping. Trash the rest of the backups and carry 8 O-lineman on the active roster under that structure that way we can implore some more ST's specialists. A good center to allow Gurode to move to LG and find the backup swing tackle would solve the depth and systematic problems we have on the O-line.
