Any film gurus look at N. Wright?

We play a lot of man single high and cover 3. Because our DT and LB corps are decimated and we are struggling to stop the run, the Giffords and Clarks are taking steps on all play fakes. This leaves a lot of space between their level and where Hooper is set up. The Eagles ran a billion in/seams routes to take advantage of it. We were doing something similar with slants in a wide open centerfield ourselves. Our corners all took leverage outside and they all got completed on in the middle of the field.

Wright was no different in this regard but overall he did a good job staying on top of the routes. He was outstanding in pursuit/run support. We really need that with the lack of speed at LB on outside runs. He was the difference between a 15 yard gain and a 2 yard gain a couple times.

I like him outside to grow; Wright made plays in his first real performance. Bland is just so damn good at those intermediate drops out of the slot. He's a rookie, and I get giddy thinking about what he's going to do once he learns NFL offenses and formation tendencies and those breaks start coming a half second sooner.

odd this defenses passing game struggles coincide with the A. Brown Injury. Brown was not a superstar but he gives offenses enough pause to that they need to run plays differently than with most of the JAGs they march out there. Bland is a rookie and at least has ball skills.

Also the DL is static now before the snap after the LVE injury.

I thought he was good overall and I like the fact he can tackle and be physical.
I would start him outside and let bland against slot.
It looks like that is plan A. I love that he is fresh and so is Alexander and Hilton.

I thought he played better as the game wore on. he can still get exposed if out there for all defensive snaps so I like him coming off the bench for now. Hope they continue to develop him, just not throw him to the wolves.

He was there on every play, Smith just made some ridiculous catches, I liked his tackling though.

He needs a bit more development I think, but so far has showed more than KJ in less snaps.

I would like to see what Travon can bring to the table, hope they bring him up this week.

I haven’t studied him yet, but I can still tell you that he did better than Joseph, who was just awful against the Jags.

I did notice a couple of times where his crazy length caused some problems for the receiver. However, like someone already mentioned, his change of direction, while good for a guy his height, still isn’t good for an NFL corner.

His height causes issues for the offense but his lateral burst and finding the ball hurts him.

I may try to watch him tomorrow, but after watching the game live, at first blush I’d say he did only ok but is much better than Bossman.

I am interested to see how Dallas responds to its CB depth in the upcoming draft. If we go heavy will that be an indictment of Joseph and Wright?

Will we try to resign Brown? Not sure if he is a UFA after this season. Is that another answer to how the team feel about these two young corners?

All I know is that I’m a patient fan and always want to give players chances to improve… but I am almost done with Joseph… and that has zero to do with anything off the field.

It has everything to do with dumb on field decision making, and zero awareness of situational football. Either he is too thick headed to learn, hasn’t put in the effort, or has a learning disability… no matter which it is, I don’t want him on the field at all down the stretch.

If anyone has paid attention to how I post, they’ll know this is really unusual for me. I rarely get to this point with a player and even if I do, I don’t vocalize it on here. But this dude is 100% a liability and he needs to be in the sidelines.

I would be willing to give him one more training camp to show something, but if he’s not way improved by about August 15th, he would be off of my team.

IMO he flashed both good and bad at times throughout the game. For your #5 CB I'd say he was good. Seemed like he gave up a bunch of catches though.

Agree with Joseph. He clearly has raw skill but I kept waiting for the light bulb to go off. It didn't and likely never will.

Wright? Yeah, he's a 4th CB on a good team, at best. Diggs, Lewis and Bland are likely back and you can likely count on. Brown is a FA. After that, we need to revamp the CB room. Frankly, if Bland is your nickle/slot guy next year, Lewis could be cut and save $5 million against the cap.

let’s sign Payne in FA and draft CB rd 1

of course it won’t happen

What I wouldn't give for a legitimate stud DT.

I no longer will be Charlie Brown getting ready to kick the football only to have Lucy pull it away. I keep thinking when Jerry talks about the run D, that he finally gets it. Nope. They'll ham and egg it at DT yet again.

Even better will be when they restructure Elliott to save like $8 million in cap space to sign 4 jags at DT and CB.

Same here. He needs to show something by next camp or it's best to cut bait and move on. 3 years is fair but it's clear that he has done very little to work on his craft. He has no concept of routes or formations.

Hamilton showed what even competence can do. A top 50 DT talent would be awesome.

I watched the game on ALL 22 and focused on him and came away feeling pretty good about him. He made a few plays and gave up some catches to Smith. They definitely tried to attack him when he was in the game with the Smith matchup, which is a tough matchup for him being a big corner. I thought he held his own though. I like his ability to tackle...it showed up a bit.

It just blows my mind that there isn't somebody, anybody, that is hammering this idea down Jerry's throat every single day. Whether it's a scout, the defensive coordinator, whoever.....this need for a great DT can't be some big secret in Dallas.
If there is, and he isn't listening, then he truly is a fool.
