C/OG has been a serious issue. I think Proctor was kept around too long thinking he was that player and really needs to prove he can fight off a decent challenger, I don't care how much praise Phillips heaps on him. If Holland busts out or Kosier keeps breaking his foot, I would still add another guard.

OT depth is also a problem. Either Free is the future at LT or he isn't. Get one who is if he's not. McQuistan needs to go to Miami. He can carpool with Berger. A player who could play either tackle spot would be great.

Kosier makes a GREAT backup OL. If Holland breaks out at LG then Kosier can backup everything but LT and C. Your post is spot on though. Its time to move on from Procter, Berger and McQ.

I love the fact that I don't see one Giant OLineman on that list. They are all locked up and most for long term.

Exactly. Agree on both counts.

The answer is no.

Keep sticking with the draft and develop them from within. Go after senior OL who aren't injury prone from solid programs. I'd look for interior lineman in this draft, especially a G/C and let Houck coach him up.

I think that it is time that we move Flo to LG and start looking for a new LT. With Flo, Gurode and Davis as your two guards and center that would be something. We need to move Flo inside to save his career and make him closer to the ball, may be this will help prevent him from jumping offsides. Just a thought, but if not I just see us bringing in O-line depth.

That is pretty much how I feel. I think it would help prolong Flo career and give Dallas that bulk up the middle with Flo, Gurode and Davis as you said

Bingo!!! I think that we will have to just draft well in the next two drafts. Bringing in these veteran lineman is ok, but if we expect them to be these 16-game, do-all, road graters, then it is going to cost way too much money. It just sucks that lineman are so hard to draft, meaning they are hit or miss.

You have one guy who has still 2 years left on his contract (Kosier).

And another who has started several games in the NFL (Holland) and did a good job when he was in there.

You can't have 15 potentially starting LG's. The cap doesn't allow it.

What you'll see is the Cowboys draft a LG in rounds 3 or 4. But there will be no FA signings of a LG.

I agree with this, and I thought that all the starting o-linemen were given long term deals?

I don't see that happening in 2009... Several reasons why not:

Moving Flozell to LG would create a logjam. Kozier, Holland and Adams would and could give a decent performance at LG.

But what about LT? There is no one on the roster that can come close to Flozell's level of play-- that we know of, i.e. Doug Free.

Without a first round draft pick the teams ability to pickup a LT through the draft who can start from day 1 is pretty slim.

The salary cap, combined with a lack of quality LT's in free agency combined with the huge amount already spent on the OL sorta kills this option from the start.

Nope, it won't be Flozell Adams at LG in 2009.

I would only make that move if I had a tackle in place be it in the draft or yes allow Free to compete for the starting job. I guess I'm not as enthused with the job that Flo gave this year but would hate to lose him and eat cap dollars in the process. I know he can play OG because he has played it before and at that position speed rusher would no longer be an issue he would have to contend with. In the end you very well could be right and Flo will play LT but I don’t think Dallas should be content with that.
